okay so this may be a little one-sided here, but honestly I know it is comparing apples to pears but an say an 85D vs the Alfa.
For similar price how does the ownership/running costs/driving enjoyment stack up and what are the ownership pros/cons/risks/costs?

Can't speak for anyone else, but I find the sound of loud gasoline cars annoying. It's kind of a social warning for me. "This person is a complete and utter ahole, adjust your interactions accordingly."

That comparison is not even a remotely fair contest. You can't compare a Model S to, well, anything else. It's in a class of its own. We could endlessly analyze the parameters listed by the OP but it seems clear to me that the Model S is superior in every way. The Alfa is a lot noisier, so if someone likes noise, then a Tesla is not for them.

The Alfa looks like fun, but if you asked me to trade, you have to pry this Tesla from my cold. dead. hands.

Now that is a very hard choice. What a beautiful car! I want the 4C for the weekends and may well do it. For me, it came down to my core belief that we need to get off of carbon cars and onto electric cars if we are to survive. And I can still fly in my Miss. It is different though: silent, elegant and also a fire breathing monster when I want it, as opposed to brutal, visceral and dominating all the time. Oh boy, can I feel your pain in making this decision. Add to this any Maserati. Such stunningly beautiful pieces of moving art.

Oh, and my fuel costs are essentially zero, if that matters. And nothing to maintain at all. I gave all my gas and oil based maintenance stuff away to a friend. I do miss the fiddling a little.:tongue:

My solution: Buy the Tesla AND get an Alfa 4C for your weekend car like what CHG-ON is pondering..

Quiet relaxing daily driving, and then hop in the seat with a 2400lb hand built carbon fiber race car and make a crapload of noise having fun, blasting through the 6 gears in the dual clutch transmission.. the handling is unreal and gets your blood and heart racing just sitting in the thing. Huge fun, something the Tesla cannot do. But you cannot live with it on a daily basis like a Tesla! I am a gear head and love electric cars, but have to have a fun sports car and nothing beats the 4C and I have had many sports cars.

It's an Alfa. Notoriously unreliable. It probably will spend more time in the shop than you will driving it
