Yesterday we had the pleasure of installing full 3M Crystalline Window Film on a brand new Tesla Model X. I know many of you have 3M Crystalline Series film on your Tesla's already, but for those of you who may not have heard of it or the beneficial factors that Crystalline has to offer here is some information on it.

    3M™ Crystalline Automotive Window Films

The new 3M™ Crystalline Automotive Window Films offer a clear breakthrough in automotive solar protection. These films are metal-free, resulting in an easy-to-maintain, long-life film that won’t interfere with car electronics. The Crystalline films feature a proprietary multi-layer technology that combines more than 200 layers in a film that is thinner than a Post-it® Note. The biggest advantage that Crystalline has over a Ceramic Window Film is it's 97% Infrared Rejection rate. Infrared heat from the sun is the heat you actually feel when the sun is glaring down on you through the window. This means you will virtually feel no heat from the sun with even the clearest Crystalline Film. All Crystalline series films offer 99.99% UV rejection, 97% Infrared rejection, Glare reduction, and help lower the amount of light transmission into your car. We offer Crystalline CR40 and CR70 for the side windows and recommend CR70 for the windshield.

This vehicle has an enormous windshield and multiple windows that are difficult to do. It presented quite the challenge for our team, especially since it is the first Model X we have worked on. However after many hours of work, the Model X was completed with the same high standard we hold for every vehicle that we work on. Check out the pictures of the install below!

Preparation is the most important factor in completing a proper install. Whether its the tint or keeping your door panels clean!

The windshield on a Model X is about twice the size of a Model S. Heating and stretching a piece of window film to fit perfectly on a windshield that large is what presented to be the biggest challenge to us.

The outcome however turned out great and the customer was so happy they are bringing us their other cars to install Crystalline on as well.

Very interesting. So, it appears to go on the outside of the windows and not the inside. Congrats on your first Model X project!

Hello. We get this question all the time. The film does go on the inside of the window.

First step is to mold the film to the shape of the glass by using heat etc. 3M crystalline takes a lot longer to mold then regular window film due to the Crystalline having more layers. Once the film is completely flat against the window we then carefully trim the film to the shape of the window. Last step is to clean the inside of the window and install the film.

    Thanks
