tesla model y cup holder metal ring

New model Y seven seater picked up on 04/09/2021. Anyone know what the cup holder metal ring is about? My older 2020 model Y did not have this ring in the cup holder.

I have the same on mine -- I believe it is all about aesthetics. It doesn't appear to light up or anything.
