They've been supposedly ground-truthing vision with LIDAR since last year. I've mostly passed MS and here's a MX from a few weeks ago..

Tesla has actually used lidar to obtain ground truth data since at least 2016:

Another potential use for test vehicles with lidar is sensor-supervised learning. This is something Karpathy has discussed. The lidar automatically labels a bunch of camera-derived data with the correct depths. That labelled data then becomes training data for NNs that use only camera input to estimate depth.

I just saw one NJ with manufacturer plates also. Got some nice pics. Seems a bit crazy to be using this to validate tesla AP across country, but I don't know much. Some detailed pics if anyone has more info.

Does that spell Luminar? Why would Telsa use Luminar that made the showcase in 2022 CES that Tesla would hit a dummy?

Was really going to start a new thread and watch the flamefest begin...but there is 0% chance Tesla will ever get Vision only working reliably for FSC/City street driving using the current camera system/vision.

Will test this statement out here.

Then I will just provide 1 simple photo of the Tesla screen once this erupts and see how people justify and claim it will and the message on my screen doesn't mean anything.

I've gotten quite a few CA plates and that phrase “dmv.ca.gov” has been on mine including my last 3 Tesla cars. They are owned by me, a non-business person, unrelated to "MFG" and mine don't ever have "MFG" ever.
Interesting, I had never seen text like that on a license plate before

If you have a California plate, there's a way to skip the phrase “dmv.ca.gov” by paying more with a personalized plate.

You can pay about $900 for a digital plate (it's a programmable 2400 x 1034 UHD display) but if you don't pay for a personalized plate, you still can't escape the phrase “dmv.ca.gov”:
