Tesla motor insurance

From what I have read, LV and Direct Line appear to be the most-recommended insurers for Teslas in the UK.

I did an online quote on the LV website and was rather shocked at how expensive they were - almost double the cheapest quote I got on Confused.com - is that usual and are so folks saying the big premium is worth the extra or should I investigate why the quote came out so much higher?

Direct Line's Tesla specialists are ringing me back tomorrow morning (collecting the MS 70D on Friday at 11:30!) - but their sibling, Privilege, are looking quite competitive. Our second car is actually insured with Direct Line, partly because our two daughters can temporarily be added to the policy for a number of weeks per year. We're not looking for that with the Tesla though

Also, am I allowed to answer affirmatively that the car is fitted with a tracker? Possibly a bit cheeky, but in effect all Teslas are tracked.

I would expect Direct Line Tesla Specialist to know that ...

No it’s not a proper tracker that the insurance would be looking for. Direct line will know exactly the specs of the car

Another for DL... they were great insuring my new MX and not that much more a month than my 2016 Nissan trail which considering it’s about x4 cheaper than my X I was pretty happy.

They also sorted me with free cover for loaners for almost 3 months
