You are correct Ray, No Luxury Car Tax and no import duty, just the GST at 15% which if it is your company as a company car you claim the GST back.

So it’s been 19 months since Tesla made that announcement. I see a Tesla showroom location in Auckland on the Tesla Find Us page but don’t see any indication of a Service Center. Find Us | Tesla

How are you NZ Tesla owners getting service?

Well those of us outside of Auckland wait for the annual visit from Mike the Tesla Ranger. I like to think he has better availability within the Auckland region.
I exchanged a couple of emails with him back in April this year. His reply indicated the new Service Centre is taking up a fair bit of his attention at present so at least that indicates the Service Centre is progressing.

Ya - but if you live in CA you're kind of spoiled.
When I bought mine, the nearest charger or service of any sort was over 600 miles away.
Spent three weeks in 2016 in CA with a friends P85DL - great fun (and service).
