Here’s a fairly easy test if you own a Model 3 (perhaps a Model S or X as well). When backing up, the screen displays distance to the nearest obstacle in centimetres or inches. It would be easy to grab a measuring tape and test it 10 different times to see how accurate it is.

Been very accurate for me on my 3. It even works well on skinny protrusions (say 2" (~5cm) across and 1' (~30cm) long).
