Exclusive: Tesla Registers 17 LHD Model 3 VINs — Comin' To Europe, Baby! | CleanTechnica
The designation is just “EU.” How can you tell they are LHD cars and not RHD cars for the EU?
I saw LHD and started thinking Long range Hyper velocity Dual motor. What the hell does the H stand for?
Then I thought Left Hand Drive...wait a minute. We all drive left hand drive in the US.
So is it just a normal Model 3, normal driver configuration but sold in EU?
The European Teslas have “Active Hood” which is required for European Pedestrian Safety regulations. There are also other differences but not shown on VINs.
I also figured out my question, the 5th digit in the VIN identifies LHD vs RHD. “E” is for “Sedan 4 Door (Model 3, Left-Hand Drive).” There currently is not a VIN identifier for RHD but guessing it will be “F.”
