LOL! Better than even chance that Tesla is finally joining the rest of the auto industry again and putting radar back into new vehicles. It was likely a supply chain reason they took it out anyway, with "Tesla Vision is Great!" being an attempt to make it not matter.

Here's are the articles, for those who haven't seen them yet. TMC member verygreen is quoted!

Look into Arbe. Tesla was rumored to have been testing their 4D radar sensor with references in the source code as far back as 2021.

I've always speculated Vision Only was a sales tactic to keep selling "safe enough" cars during a global parts shortage.

Interesting. So still using it for Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and possibly within FSD beta but not confirmed.
Yep...and also for Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and adaptive cruise control.

Tesla *never* said they were no longer using radar in vehicles that have it. The only said that non-radar vehicles were transitioning to "Tesla Vision" vision-only operations. The legions of fanbois on here screaming "tHeY tUrNeD oFf eVeRbOdY's rAdAr!!!!" never knew what they were talking about and it was never backed up by anything. Not to mention that Tesla Service Center managers are flatly saying they never plan to "turn off" radar in radar-equipped vehicles. It's a constant argument with them on here and other websites.
