Tesla Replacing OSS bumpers with Non-OSS bumpers?

A Reddit thread was recently posted regarding a “Tesla Official” claiming they will replace an OSS equipped vehicle with a Non-OSS equivalent in the event of a bumper replacement due to crash damage. Anyone know if there is any validity to this statement?

It is premature to discontinue distance measurement/proximity status for those who already paid for those features.

Once the vision can do the job of sonars then it's reasonable to replace a sonar bumper with a sonarless bumper.

I wouldn’t trust Tesla on what constitutes feature parity between Vision and non-vision equivalents. I also wouldn’t put it past Tesla to take features away if you need replacement parts due to a crash.

While I agree with both of of your statements here, a thread on reddit from some random user, talking about some random official within tesla supposedly making some statement or other is not anything I would consider to be any sort of news whatsoever.

Its about as "telephone gamey" as things get.

They did away with radar despite that... USS have about 18mos at most
