This has been reported before, but this article gives a summary of purchases made by SpaceX of Tesla cars and parts over the past year. Here is my summary of the list:
$2.2 million worth of “battery components”. Battery packs for Starships?
$1.2 million worth of “non-battery vehicle parts”, standard items out of Tesla’s parts catalog. That’s a lot of parts. What are they going to be used for? Maybe electric motors to drive Starship actuators?
$700,000 for a “custom tool“ which the automaker will build at its machining facility. No description of what this is. (The price included labor hours, Tesla noted.)
Tesla Energy sold a “system” to SpaceX for $300,000 in 2019. I assume this is a Powerpack installation at a SpaceX facility somewhere.
SpaceX charged Tesla $200,000 for use of its private jet in the first quarter of 2020.
No mention of the two Model X vehicles that we’ve seen used to transport the astronauts to LC-39A.
