Did you have to have your dangerous screen removed to get this price?I cannot believe any one is so naive as to not shop around different insurance companies. Model X, fully comp, lowest excess.

Mine had halved by the time I sold it to upgrade to the Y.Judging by the prices quoted above I think M3 insurance prices have come down since it launched in 2019 in the UK. Now real data is available maybe it turned out to not be so bad as they first thought..
Perhaps its a UK thing? In the US, a big chunk of insurance premiums is liability, so safer cars tend to benefit with lower premiums, which (probably) helps to offset the higher repair costs. I have an Infiniti G25x and Tesla M3 AWD, both with the same insurer, and both have pretty much the same premiums (the Infiniti is a bit lower as its an older car).It is a fact that inuance on the Tesla is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than nay other car (Porsceh £350 / Tesla £2,250) there's got to be a reason for that.
I got a quote from Avia for a Kia EV6 (eevery other dteaisl the same) £513 . . . . .. . that's Tesla £2,250 / Kia £513 . . . . WHY?
Perhaps it’s because after over 10 years of gathering accident data, there is no evidence to support the notion that the screen poses a safety risk. And I am sure others have mentioned that Teslas have an extensive number of available voice commands, which would eliminate many screen looks and touches. Maybe Teslas aren’t for you?I've just had another converstaion with Aviva about why their quote for the Tesla is 6 times higher than the Porsche Macan S and he said . . . it's because of the screen, where it is is a distraction and causes more accidents adding that they would not insure anyone under 25 for that reason.
Frankly, I can see what he is on about . . . . from my first day of the test drive I've wondere about that screen being to the side and everything that needs doing needs to be done throughthat screen - it IS dangerous . . . . WHY can't Tesla see that?

The most likely difference is location and perceived risk from theft/driving. Other factors could be medical history of any of the drivers, I'm not sure if ex occupation has an impact given you are retired, plus any risk factors associated with your wife - driving or medical. My insurance has almost halved since we moved to the dales around 18 months ago, apart from also being older nothing else has changed for me.My quote from DL yesterday was £970. I have 20yrs NCD, no convictions ever, no accidents in 20 years, retired, 2 car family, 6,000 miles a year , parked on driveway, SDP - no commuting. Why would mine be 3 x yours . . . clearly because the algorithm they are using doesn't like something amongst that profile?
Yesterday, after considerable searching I found out how I raise or lower the heater temperature. Trying to do that whilst dribing (IMO) is dangerous (at least as dangerous as answering a cell phone (which is illegal).
Before you all thumbs down this post ask yourself the question . . . am I being objective or you unable to excape your inherent tribal insincts (Tesla is my tribe and I will hear no wrong). Tech should only be there if it makes it better, easier, safer, having EVERY function on that screen is dangerous, it';s tech for the sake of tech, a knob would be easier, safer, better.
Yes, last time I tried it voice was pretty reliable for temperature changes.I've never needed to change the temperature so urgently that I can't do it whilst the car is crusing in autopilot or I'm stopped at a traffic light or elsewhere. And when I do need to change it, I simply use voice commands.
With the greatest of respect - surely you knew what you were getting yourself into before you bought the car?Yesterday, after considerable searching I found out how I raise or lower the heater temperature. Trying to do that whilst dribing (IMO) is dangerous (at least as dangerous as answering a cell phone (which is illegal).

The heating controls is one of the more simpler controls to get your head around, even my better half picked that up straight away (and she is not very tech savvy, she doesn't even have a smart phone!!).Yesterday, after considerable searching I found out how I raise or lower the heater temperature. Trying to do that whilst dribing (IMO) is dangerous (at least as dangerous as answering a cell phone (which is illegal).

Appreciate user experiences and personal preferences of these experiences will differ, but you appear to want to make life more difficult for yourself by not reading the manual if you cannot reasonably figure the controls out on your own in a timely manner. The manual is easily accessible in car via Controls > Service > Owner's Manual. Within it there's a dedicated section for Climate Controls in the section titled 'Using the Touchscreen'. The information is literally a couple of taps away; it doesn't require "considerable searching". I find the temperature controls very intuitive; I think they're set to Auto as default, though I have mine on manual, on a low fan speed and set to 20c. I rarely feel the need to change these during a journey, especially if I'm travelling alone, but if I do need to make an adjustment and I'm not stationary or on autopilot, I will use the voice commands. Sometimes, on a very warm day, I will change to Auto. Having been an owner for almost 3 years, I don't agree that having most on the controls accessible through the touch screen is dangerous. Yes, it took a short time to get used to them but I had first known and accepted that was the Tesla way of doing things.Yesterday, after considerable searching I found out how I raise or lower the heater temperature. really? after CONSIDERABLE searching? it took you considerable time to find something what is always on the bottom of the screen?!Yesterday, after considerable searching I found out how I raise or lower the heater temperature.
