This is not solely because of new battery technology. The truck uses a certain amount of electric power, which is supplied by the battery. No matter what technology the battery has, it's going to need to be recharged with at least that much power. If the chargers are v2 there's a limit to how much power they can supply in a given amount of time again no matter what type of battery is in the truck.

Most likely the truck didn't have to go much further before it was going to stop for a while so only needed a smaller charge.

This does not suggest a major battery upgrade. The system was always going to be modular with battery packs and motors sharing a switchable bus. It would be crazy to inflexibly connect all the battery cells into a single pack.

We don't know yet how many amps they are willing to put through a single connection.

You could see the driver backing up by himself, rather than cameras on the trailer and semi that would allow software to do it for him. Interesting.
