Tesla sent Monday delivery confirmation emails to customers waiting for the company’s electric crossover SUV.
Several TMC members posted notes sent from Tesla to ready customers for a March delivery of their Model Y.
The Model Y was originally slated for production in fall of 2020, then bumped up to the summer of 2020. Now, it seems the Model will arrive significantly earlier than expected. It will be interesting to see how quickly the Model Y program ramps up, considering Chief Executive Elon Musk expects the vehicle to outsell Tesla’s other models.
Tesla will build the Model Y at its Fremont, Calif. factory, and at Giga Shanghai for Chinese Model Y customers next year.
The Performance Model Y costs around $67,990 with the addition of Full-Self Driving feature. The base version of the Model Y, expected next year, will cost about $39,000.
