The reason (I believe) is AP1 (and non-AP) vehicles don’t get HW3 computer hence the savings.

That said, if you can get them to verify that the MCU issue you're having falls within the NHTSA recall, then they're supposed to give you an additional discount off the $1500.

I haven't heard that anywhere. What they have said is that if you had the MCU issue verified, while out of warranty, and upgraded to MCU2 to resolve it, before the recall, that you would possibly get some reimbursement for upgrade cost.

No, AP0, AP1, and AP3 cars get it for $1,500. (Only AP2 and AP2.5 cars pay $2,000.)

This seems to be the case, agreed. Only AP2 and 2.5 cars that didn’t buy FSD would be subject to the extra $500.
