That’s on a new Tesla?! What parts of the car?!
Luckily they all seem to be located in unnoticeable spots. The deep crack was inside the trunk. I was really nervous about it spreading to the outside of the vehicle because it was right on the inside lip. There were a ton more hairline cracks inside the trunk lip as well. I have another crack on the exterior paint where the top of the trunk meets the top of the license plate bracket. Car was out of commission for a couple weeks but a body shop was able to seal them up. After I got the car back I noticed some additional cracks in areas that I hadn’t seen before, so eventually i’ll have to bring it in again. My build is from May.

I also have a crack in the wood dash, but it doesn’t bother me enough to bring it up to service. Love the car otherwise. I have complete faith that Tesla service will make everything OK in the end. I’ve had great experiences with my service center so far. I knew what I was getting into being an early adopter.

Man we are forgiving aren’t we? That looks really bad for any new car. I will have to check out my trunk more!

I have a spot with several bumps (dust specs) under the paint on my front bumper; my service appt is this afternoon. I do have some body panel alignment issues as well. Has anyone gotten Tesla to do anything about the 'orange peel' many are seeing in the paint? Mine has this in many places - essentially all over the car.

What is the service center proposing to do with the dust specks/fish eyes? I’ve only noticed one so far but I am sure there are more as I have not looked at the car in good lighting.

I have reported the issue(s) on my due bill and am going into the SC this afternoon to find out what they propose - my guess would be buff out and/or repaint of the bumper.

I have an MSM that has plenty of dust nibs under the paint if you really wanted to mark each one. I'm afraid to bring it up cause I don't see how they could be repaired without potentially damaging the paint or having to repaint most panels... I think I am just going to deal with it since there are only a few per panel and only a couple really catch your eye all that often.

daver6640: I picked my Red AWD car this week. I think I have the same issue you had. Did it look like this: Red - paint quality issues

Primarily on the trunk and a couple of spots on the hood. The body shop came over while they were swapping out the tires (car was delivered w/wrong tires) and thought he might be able to wet sand to get this out. I am bringing to the body shop next week. Hoping they can either sand or buff out vs. repaint.
Wow! My main issue was a small deep scratches on the front passenger door. I had probably 3-4 of those on my bumper. Not as many as you you have. That sucks...Keep us updated.

Now my paint issues are gone thank goodness.

Good luck.

My experience is still on going and goes as follows. I wish I rejected my delivery and waited.

8/10- Took delivery at Fremont Delivery Center. Delivery Specialist and I noted that there were several paint defects and he left me for roughly 15 to 20 minutes to make a due bill.
8/
8/11 I called the customer service line to see about creating an appointment. They informed me that no due bill was on my account.

8/12 Filled out the delivery experience survey and mentioned still not having a due bill. Received an email from customer support stating that they passed on the message to the service center and that I would be all set for my appointment on 8/14.

8/13 Text message from service center saying that they are canceling my appointment as they have no due bill.

8/14 After contacting support and my delivery advisor I receive a due bill.

8/15 Drop my model 3 off

8/22 Told my car would be ready at 5 pm at the service center. Arrive at 5 pm and wait around for two and a half hours. My car still has paint defects.

8/31 Told my car has been QC'd and is perfect. Car still has paint defects and my entire front wheel has curb rash now.

Disgusting. Another of Elon’s companies is going to fail because of this stuff.

Finally got my car back. No more paint issues.

Now onto my next issue lmao. Back license plate screws are stripped so I can't even mount my rear plate. But that's for another thread :)

Haha yep. I put the frame on (they didn’t have anything mounted when I took delivery). Then I read the thread that the screws won’t come out. So now I will have to figure that out in a few weeks.

My left side where stripped too. I angled them a bit and they unscrewed just fine. If I need some other service on the car - I might ask them to replace them.

Just to give everyone some idea how Tesla handles repairs. I had quite a few items wrong when I took delivery of my car. I created a website showing all the flaws I had found here:
Tesla Model 3 Performance (issues)

I took my car in for service at Tesla Costa Mesa. The service rep Alex was extremely helpful. He even sent the car back when it came back from the body shop and it wasn't align to his tastes. The detail shop also found grit in the clear near the drivers side rear deck (where the carbon fiber spoiler is located). This caused a bit of a delay. They also found a few rock chips in the lower rocker panels. But through out the entire process, Alex kept me informed and sent me text messages to my phone each step of the way. I knew they sent the car to the following location due to the app notifying me when the car was reaching a speed limit I had set on the car (enough for the freeway). This was mainly set to tone down the car.

Body shop:
City Collision Center
8250 W Cerritos Ave, Stanton, CA 90680
CITY COLLISION CENTER | OFFICIAL SITE
(Factory Certified Tesla)

They fixed all the repairs except for the passenger side rear tail light being flush. They broke it in the process and replaced it. Other Model 3 cars have this same inset look (I still feel it should be flush). Also my drivers side rear hatch arm gap could not be adjusted. These are minor compared to all the other items being resolved and even the items I didn't notice.

Overall - I'm VERY happy to have my car back and I'm enjoying it now again. I plan to have PPF added to the entire car as well as a ceramic coating. I'm still trying to decide between Xpel clear or Xpel stealth. Chrome delete, tint, and powder coating the wheels are to follow too.

Tesla Service disabled my "remote access" before my car left the SC for the body shop (for Frunk lid, and front bumper repainting). I don't understand why Tesla is so secretive about the local body shops they use. It's doesn't take much detective work to figure it out, since their still few Tesla approved body shops in each city.

You seem to have done a through inspection...were your headlights flush with the front bumper and fenders?
