Someone asked me to make this chart, so here it is! A comparison of the share price with quarterly vehicles (of the prior three months).
I'd say this really puts into perspective what the recent run-up in the stock looks like historically; it's only at about pre-2018 levels and it took the market a long time to recognize how much value the Model 3's created.
Note: Some of the early quarters don't have exact delivery numbers because I couldn't find full details so some may include estimates. In addition, the quarterly delivery numbers are lagging by three months because the numbers are reported to investors after the quarter ends. See here for the source data (if anyone wants to extend the chart). I got the numbers from Yahoo Finance and Tesla IR (which a few exceptions from early on).
