Tesla still shipping cars?

Hello Everyone, maybe taking delivery soon
How can i tell what number my vin is... or build order in general?

I keep seeing people reference 20xx etc.. is this toward the end of the VIN?
I was told a build order number ... that's like only 3 numbers.. two hundred something

does that mean this is a car someone early didn't want and returned?

Your VIN should look something like this: 5YJYGDEF1LF00 followed by the four digits that people are usually ref'ing. It should be in your account, on your MVPA, etc. The only other number I had was a Reservation Number or RN, that too should be in your account until you actually take the car and claim the VIN, which will then show in its place.

I am new to Tesla as well, but odds are, based on whenever you did order, that at this point you are being offered a car that someone ahead of you passed on. There could be any number of reasons for that, most likely financial. I wouldn't worry about a "low" VIN at this point, as they are all low and our car 23xx had very few issues, all of which have been rectified now with just over two weeks post delivery. Good Luck!

SS

Tesla is still delivering.

I picked up my Y this past Friday. VIN: 28XX. Noticed the VIN in chrome "View Page Source" on Thursday evening (was not there on Wednesday) and by noon on Friday I had a text and email from Tesla asking if I'd like to take delivery. Picked it up a few hrs later.

They sure are. 2701 was loaded on a third party carrier headed from Deadham, MA to me this afternoon. The driver told me it was a five hour drive and he’d call when he was 30 minutes out. When that time came and went I called him and he said “uh, can I call you back?” At this point I was a little suspicious but not surprised given Tesla’s track record for poor communication. Next I get a call from the driver’s dispatcher saying Tesla told them to turn around and bring the car back because “there was damage to the vehicle.” It’s interesting to see how well this third party carrier communicates compared to Tesla. My delivery specialist was unavailable and the person at Tesla I did get a hold of had “no access” to the info on my delivery. That was after calling a number which said to call back during business hours 7-6 PST when it was 5:18 PST. It’s a good thing their product is good (exclusive of build quality) because their service leaves much to be desired.

I was asked to enter all my info for a 7 seater tesla model y. I wonder if it’s coming earlier than 2021

I originally ordered a LR AWD White (regular wheels which then were updated by Tesla to the Gemini wheels). Order was on 4/13/19. On 3/26/20 I updated the original order via chat/phone to the induction wheels.

Did your base price get adjusted when you upgraded to the induction wheels? I attempted to do the same, but was told that my base price would go up $990 on top of the $2000 for the wheel upgrade.

Same here. I did so, even had some follow up with the trade in/pay off folks. This all started around March 12. I am holding out hope that while they are shut down they are setting up for 7 seaters so they can fill orders this summer.
What did they tell you?

i put in the trade in info as well, including the title and interestingly they noted it’s only good for 30 days

My price went up by $1500 for just the induction wheels. Followed the same process that Ryan Shaw from YouTube did when he updated his order. I was actually expecting to pay the $2k for the wheels plus the $990 that the price had gone up since I placed my order last year. Maybe doing this switch before Q1 ended was what made me get that price even though didn't get the car before Q1 ended.

So my vehicle was damaged in transport. They turned the delivery driver around and now it sits in Boston. Unfortunately the car is already paid for as required for a Maine delivery. They do not have info on what the damage is and I was told it will either go to a body shop or I'll get a different car. I don't want to be unreasonable but I paid for something they failed to deliver. It's immaterial whether the delivery driver was a Tesla employee or not--they hired them and are therefore culpable. As the car is paid for what do you think I should do. This is what I'm thinking:

1. Different vehicle if the damage is extensive or not just cosmetic. This would require one to be available now.
2. Loaner until my vehicle is repaired. If they need parts it might be until well after Fremont reopens.
3. Refund until a new vehicle can be produced.

Am I being ridiculous? I just feel as I paid for the car and now "own" it I should have something to show for it.

For me it would depend on the damage. I would want to see the damage in pictures and I wouldn't take their word on it.

If the damage required an entire panel to be repainted, I'd ask for a refund. This is a long term deal and I wouldn't want to get a new car with a repainted panel (the panel could fade differently over the years). And a body shop respray typically isn't as durable as a factory spray job (in my experience). I'd rather wait a couple of months than get a car I'd not be 100% happy with

Tesla reached out via text to get a better picture of my registration and a new picture of my odometer. They didn't really say anything about the trade in quote. I noted to the person that my order was for a 7 seat version. They gave the standard answer of 7 seaters wont be in production till 2021. I then asked if that is the case why are they following up on my trade in and registration and they answered that they do that when they think delivery is within 30 days. This was back on April 4. I highly doubt I will be completing my order by May 4 with the factory shut down. Just hoping like other 7 seat reservation holders that the time line is accelerated and I can complete some time this summer or early fall?

On a side note I asked about adding the tow hitch to my order. They informed me that if i did it would raise the price of the car more than just the 1k because i am an earlier reservation holder (August 2019). I think i would end up being charged more for the wheels. The person on the text said that the tow hitch will be an option post-deliver through their service terms.

Talked with a local dealer yesterday (Chicagoland), and asked if they still deliver these days- he said they delivered 15 Ys last week, and going to deliver more today. He was positive that after May 1st it will go back to deliver daily.

Interesting. Any idea what configs? I have a white interior performance on order since August, don't think those are as common right now. Got a number you can share, by chance?
