Just noticed that the TM Supercharger page is once again showing 200 miles for a 30 minute charge instead of the 170 they had recently changed it to. I wonder why all the changing.

I recently supercharged at Fremont CA and got 150 in thirty minutes. 4 to 154. To get 170 even, you'd have to be in the -20 miles or so of reserve, so maybe -20 to 150 in thirty minutes to get 170. I have no idea how they come up with 200 in thirty minutes. That 200 rate is unrealistic. Real world rate is 150 in thirty minutes from nearly dead empty. My best charge rate was 111kWh at Fremont CA. {the plant} Of the eight stalls there, only two were occupied the entire time I supercharged.

My gut tells me that somebody messed up when they added the new Superchargers today and ended up putting the old graphic up by mistake.

Yeah, did someone at Tesla write a completely automated script to put up new Supercharger sites on the web page? And then no human checks the maps to see if they make sense?

Doug... Yeah, looks fine for me until I save image on my ipad.... Then funny enough, all I get is the image with just the route.... Must be something to that fact.

anyway... 6 weeks ago, tesla updated to the current method with "coming soon" on their maps. Since then, 28 have opened and we know just about all of the other locations. We have found them and some are very close. There are only 22 coming soon locations left. At this rate, that won't even last us until the end of February... (Also, well before the end of winter 2013)

Hopefully tesla updates this coming soon map so we have some more locations to scout!

With Blanding open, all we need is Kingman to be able to go from LA to Denver. Amazing, and it's only getting better every day.

Charged at Blanding this evening. Nice rest stop. You really want Moab to avoid range charging and hypermiling, but it looks like Moab will be ready in a week or so. Will upload pic in the morning.

I'll update the cumulative chart in the morning bc I left my computer at work. Unless Cottonwood would like to take the reigns, since my chart was based on his work :)

Also, did anyone else notice that the 30 minute charging graphic was changed back to 200 miles? Obviously it's qualified with a '120KW'.

Here is the install chart. I like staying with the installs only; keeps it simple, and to the point. Looks like a Supercharger per day so far in January. BTW, a linearly increasing install rate means the total number is increasing at a quadratic rate!

"150 miles in 30 minutes" - Everyone should email TM with just this quote/factoid until they get the message.

I heard from a reliable source that there will be a cross country trip made by Tesla employees ahead of Elon very soon. Their mission will be to travel Coast-to-Coast in a BEV in record time.

Yesterday TM sent me an email announcing that the Farmington SC was open for business. I must be on some kind of regional mailing list, but I don't recall getting anything from them regarding Grand Junction, Blanding or Lusk. What are other owners experiencing concerning notification from Tesla of 'nearby' Supercharger openings?

OK, TMC spies: time to ramp up the surveillance. Come on, Cheyenne!

It's also time to place your bets on the total elapsed time of the first transcontinental, Superchargers-only run.

Supercharging rate: Here is something interesting to do while supercharging. On your phone, go to stopwatch, and monitor lap times of each mile added throughout the supercharging process. {on a supercharge yesterday at the plant.. from 4 miles to 255miles ..when I decided to stop} Initially I was gaining a mile every thirteen seconds, then the times obviously slowed as I gained miles. As I neared a full charge, the rate dropped to 1 mile gained for every 2 minutes thirty seconds. ... to the point of a NEMA 14-50. On my phone lap times are saved so it's kinda nice to observe the taper over time. Now, I will admit it is a lil hard to watch the miles change on my odometer/rated miles screen as they increase, but after a while you'll get the idea. Your next mile gained should be in X seconds after a few minutes of dedicated staring at the screen so you can take your eyes off the screen for a while . Well, we all have our ways of passing the time at superchargers!! ..this was just one of mine! Don't forget to take note of when you start and your thirty minute benchmark to compare for yourself. Most of my super charge times... I am in the vicinity of 150miles/30minutes from a very low arrival rated miles stand point; and those 150 miles are usually all I need!

Makes sense, not too many under construction locations left. BEV?

By my count, Tesla still needs to finish the following locations for a fast, quick-charge, west-to-east crossing.

  1. Las Vegas
  2. Kingman
  3. Moab
  4. Cheyenne
  5. Cranberry Township
  6. Hagarstown

All of these are about to come online except for Cranberry Township, which is just getting started. Looks like Cranberry Township will be the golden Supercharger for the Elon, Coast-to-Coast route.

This works well for the West to East path. On the East to West path, Cheyenne to Silverthorne and Las Vegas to Barstow are still a little far apart for quick charging of an 85, but especially uncomfortable for a 60.

Yesterday, I did a marathon MS drive taking the almost complete Supercharger Arc from Boulder to Pagosa Springs. The difference between the plug in, use the facilities, walk the dog, grab some refreshments, oh I have more charge than I need, drive without concern to the next Supercharger , with regularly spaced Superchargers, and the range charge, when will it be done, that damn taper, then hypermile driving mode, that I had to do hopping over Moab between Grand Junction and Blanding was dramatic. Purposely run on sentence; they need Cranberry to set a record that will last a while, and to make the Supercharger experience a pleasure.

Yes I heard this also. Counting the weeks until Cranberry is finished, I will do regular updates so we can anticipate this as best as possible. Let the games begin!
