Tesla Supercharger network

Also the way they've been building it is linear, so if they have a hold up with one location on a route, they don't build the next one. For example, if Denton takes a year to get the permit approved, nothing closer to Oklahoma city will be built--even though a number of people could use it without Denton being completed. That slows up the rollout.
I don't think that's necessarily so. Lake Charles, LA is almost complete and it's alone on the I-10 route for now. To the east, Baton Rouge is still in permit stage and to the west there is no sign of a presumed Baytown, TX area one yet. Tesla has built "targets of opportunity" from the beginning. Remember how surprised everyone was when Austin to Dallas was going to be the first Texas route, but the San Marcos supercharger opened first because it was ready faster?

They did the five Texas ones at once, but the I-70 has been linear.

Yes, Petaluma should be added to that list. That site may just be waiting for e utility connection to be completed and approved but I can't be certain of that, just guessing. Plus some paving remains to be completed.

It's #4 on the Under Construction list. As of 3 days ago there was still a fair amount of construction to do before it languishes in wait for a transformer.

I'm not going to get any love for this, especially from Tesla owners in CA, but it bothers me the emphasis Tesla is placing on supercharging CA at the expense of the rest of the country. CA already has an extremely large number of superchargers while parts of the U.S. have none. For example, good luck traveling anywhere in ID, NE, ND, most of NV, OK, AR, etc. There is currently no supercharger route between Gallup, NM and TX, or Topeka, KS to Indianapolis, IN. This list is not iall inclusive, but just examples.

I realize CA has a larger proportion of cars than other states, but I submit that Tesla will not significantly increase sales in other states until such time as they "wire" up the other states with superchargers. Even if people don't do long trips across state lines on a regular basis, they want to know they have the ability to do so, especially when spending as much money on a car as a Tesla costs. I have discussions with people all the time about this, and their primary objection to the Tesla is that they are confined to a limited region with the car. Most people are not willing to spend hours upon hours at an RV park to charge. I did it several times and its not much fun.

I submit that Tesla should use its equipment, crews, etc. to install superchargers along the entire U.S., and then they can proceed with filling in the "gaps" in CA. I truly believe this is the way to get the car to be more than an oddity in states across the U.S. As the saying goes, "build it and they will come". Build superchargers in every state of the U.S. and Teslas will be purchased in every state, not predominately some states.

No, I do not live in any of the states or regions mentioned in this post above. As a Tesla fan and a stockholder, I wish to see the appeal of the car and the company spread to as many people and places as possible.
I would agree, the best way to increase Tesla market share would be to have a 50 state strategy for superchargers. Tesla owners turn out to be the best marketing tool Tesla could ever hope to have. There is still a large portion of the population that have no idea what this car is capable of.

As of last night. Two forum members have been independently told that it is at 5638 Morehouse Drive in San Diego near Qualcomm offices. It hasn't been confirmed yet, but I'll bet someone will be there at the crack of dawn to scout and take pictures.

Still not buyin' this purported San Diego location. I'm still in "no way" mode.

I think I'll drive over there and check it out and take pictures and report back in the Supercharger - San Diego topic.

I am the source of the address. Please take that address as a fuzzy pin; Google Maps does not have a "fuzzy pin" function. One of my sources gave the location as "across the street from Qualcomm Headquarters." 5638 Morehouse Drive is across the street from Qualcomm Headquarters, but there are many other addresses that satisfy that constraint.

Just got back from the Qualcomm location. You can see my photos etc here.

Thanks for the photos. You scouted out some very nice potential spots for a Supercharger.

I do have info about this location from two independent sources that are reliable and trusted. Keep an eye open! As I said before, I bet a free charge on a Supercharger that something is coming to this area "soon." Now that may be a Tesla "soon," but I put the chances at 99% that a Supercharger is coming.

Asia
2014: 0 + 3 + 16 + 19 = 38

Global total: 136 + 106 + 38 = 280

2014 total so far: 86 + 92 + 38 = 216

Q1 2014 total: 32 + 0 + 0 = 32
Q2 2014 total: 16 + 10 + 3 = 29
Q3 2014 total: 19 + 46 + 16 = 81
Q4 2014 so far: 19 + 36 + 19 = 74

First half of 2014: 32 + 29 = 61
Second half of 2014 (so far a total of 152 days): 81 + 74 = 155
Remaining days in second half of 2014: 32

155 new live Supercharger stations in 152 days (in second half of 2014), that's even more than 1 new live Supercharger station per day, that's extraordinary!!!

Another way to look at it:
Over half the existing Superchargers have been installed in the last 152 days, so number of Superchargers have more than doubled.
THAT is a tremendous growth spurt.

Over 300 is definitely on the horizon before the end of 2014.

Exactly

It's as if they have reached the next level of the Supercharger network expansion plan (since July 2014).

Could someone please put these figures into a colourful graph with bars and lines, so that we can see the development of the Supercharger network in all three continents over time?

No, not like that (although it does show a trend over time). And the numbers only show a cumulative total over time.

I have totalled the numbers per separate quarter. If there would be a bar for each quarter of each continent separately (and each continent would have it's own coloured bars), and all the subsequent quarters would be aligned on the horizontal line/axis, it would give you a different/better view, I think.

By the way, same could be done per month instead of per quarter.
