Hello everyone I owned a M3LR, I lived in NYC were I do not have access to a home charging system I relied on superchargers near my job. My ownership with my car is coming almost to 1 month and so far did a road-trip to ON, Canada only have use supercharger. I am aware that only using supercharger as a way of charging my vehicle could degrade battery overtime. My rule that I will be using is to charge it to 85%-90% and let it drop to 10%-20%. During my road trip I notice that when battery is charging from nearly 0% to until 50% easily getting 100+ KW rate (500mi Hr). Than it slows down. I have notice that when it slows down the supercharger acts more like a level 2 charger because the rate at which the battery charge up slows down dramatically.
My Question is this tesla recommend to charge your vehicle using level 2 charger. I have seen on forums Level 2 chargers at home that charge model 3 at almost 52-60 Miles per hour at that rate isn’t that also harmful for the battery ?
What is the highest rate that you can charge your battery and not harm it. Because I was thinking instead of me charging from nearly 10% I could start charging it near 50% and battery take less stress at the supercharger.
Need advice and inputs from someone who really only relied on supercharger only. How did it affect your battery over time. Thank you.
