The Tesla Solar Roof is now available for order and the company says the “typical homeowner can expect to pay $21.85 per square foot for a Solar Roof,” cheaper than a traditional roof.
That $21.85 per square foot is based on an installation where 35 percent of the tiles are solar. Tesla released an affordability calculator on its website to explain cost and benefits of various configurations within different geographies.
Tesla will initially roll out Black glass smooth tiles and the textured glass tiles. Additional styles will be added next year.
