My comments are the first Model S’s with no parking sensors lost more. Those who took delivery in Sep 2016 vs Oct 2016 lost a lot more than someone who paid a little more for paint.
The first Model 3’s produced in 2017 are essentially the same as the Model 3’s being produced today.
Does your car also have homelink? If it does you saved 300 bucks and a LOT of hassle to get that installed today.
No not yet. I believe next month at the earliest. Are the changes live in the USA? I still see the same black basic for the Canadian site.
My theory is that they want to start selling the Model 3 as fleet vehicles and having a base price to compete in that space is needed. Thus the change. Most fleet vehicles are white for various reasons.
Sorry to disagree with your incorrect information on what color hides defects, I own a body shop and auto dealership and black paint without question shows defects to a higher degree than any color other than a chrome or metallic wrap due to the reflected images on black, dark colors of reflective wraps.
It has homelink
I guess my next car will still be a Tesla but I won’t be buying their cars when it first come out.
I agree -- when I check the "existing inventory" button on Tesla's site, I'd say 90% of the vehicles in my area are black (or that dark gray). My take is that they have a bit too many blacks laying around and this would give a little incentive
to unload them.
Yeah I like that idea of having more of the other colors on the road. I've only have the M3 for a week and I've already mistakenly went up to someone else's car at a supercharger thinking it was mine. Glad I got the black just in time though, I like the way the black color complements the chrome linesTesla changes its standard paint color from black to white - Electrek
LOL, maybe they are trying to get more WHITE Model 3's on the road to balance everything!
I see alot of reds and blues as well!

So there you go. I like black conceptually. To live with it’s a pain in the bum. But I couldn’t live with any other color. If Tesla brings back silver I’ll cry myself to sleep every night thinking about what could have been.
Black is the sexist color by far if you wrap it in matte film. If you ceramic coat it is also a lot easier to clean.

Yeah the smudges and fingerprints are everywhere. But I still like the black color the best. To me the other colors look a little less like a Tesla at first glance, the black defines the shape of the the car better in my eyes. What about do you think about shades of green?Agreed. You don’t need a chrome delete on black where on other colors the chrome looks pretty bad to me.
That said, I have a love/hate relationship with my black 3. On the one hand it looks amazing when cleaned/waxed. On the other, it gets dirty looking within seconds, and if you look even remotely too closely (especially in sunlight) the swirls and other imperfections are awful. You can create swirls with a clean fingertip. I pretty much gave up soon after purchase. The visible smudges around the door handle, the front trunk lid etc etc.
The paint makes me angry at times.
But...Tesla didn’t offer any other color my wife and I could live with:
Pearl white: No thanks. Reminds me of Cadillacs and in some lights looks so pearlescent which is...not my thing. Also accentuates the panel gaps - especially the larger side trunk gap (large) versus bumper gap (small). White is the worst color for seeing those black/shadowed panel gaps. Chrome works with it, though.
Blue: Not bad, but a little purple in some lights and the chrome doesn’t work with it to my eyes. I don’t know that I could wake up to a blue car every day.
Red: Also not bad, but a little pink in some lights. I also don’t like the chrome with this color and don’t know that I could wake up to a red car every day.
Midnight silver: Before seeing it, I was dead set on this color. All my previous cars have been silver or grey. I love these colors because they’re neutral and hide dirt/swirls well. The pictures on Tesla’s site are flat-out misleading. This color is grey sometimes, and a very pale blue other times, especially with any sunlight present. My wife calls it a form of dolphin blue, and it makes me insane. If they had a proper steel grey I’d have jumped on it. If they still had the proper silver I’d have jumped on that. This color is neither midnight nor silver, and is probably my least favorite color after having seen it in person. Very Pale Blue is a better name for it.
That said, it probably hides dirt and swirls the best!
