Tesla Tricked Me - my Delivery Experience

Collected my LR AWD M3 from Edinburgh on Dec 18th. After waiting nearly 4 months post ordering I was very excited when Tesla brought the delivery date forward from early January to Dec 18th, which was also my birthday.
Arrived with my family at the Delivery Centre in Edinburgh expecting a lot of people to be there collecting cars at the same slot, but it was just us.
After some preliminaries and an orientation with the display car in the showroom, the Tesla team invited me to go out to where my new car was parked outside where one of their specialists was waiting in the car to help me to set up my profile and driving options etc. When I went out to the car there was indeed someone in the passenger seat, but when I opened the door to get in I saw that it wasn’t a Tesla technician after all, but actually my son, who had secretly flown back from Australia to join me for my birthday and for the Christmas holidays!
I had no idea this was going to happen and it made for a very memorable day. A big shout out to Tesla and to Dan and the team at Edinburgh who were brilliant and joined in when my other two sons contacted them and asked them to help with the surprise.
That is how Tesla 'tricked' me at my M3 delivery.
So if you were reading this specifically looking for more stories about misaligned panels, dodgy paintwork, faulty lights or other problems, then I have just tricked you.
My car was delivered in great condition and - so far so good - all controls are working fine and the car goes like a rocket. Autopilot kicked in about 10-12 minutes after we left Edinburgh to drive home, when the cameras had calibrated and has worked really well from the get go. Fog lights came to my rescue in miserable weather last night. Day after collecting I got a software update and immediately had new features and improved performance. Never had a car like this.
Been busy installing assorted accessories - these are the Abstract Ocean Puddle Lights and Red Footwell lights to match the red paint. Hope you all enjoy your cars over the holidays.

Ahh nice surprise...and nice lights! I purchased some blue footwell lights from Abstract along with some cheap Model 3 puddle lights from Aliexpress (£5). Also bought some blue LED lights for the rear USB ports to give the car a nice blue hue.

:). Funny I picked my car up on my 60th. Birthday at Dartford, I was dreading it, but it all went down with no mention :) I really thought it was a huge coincidence though that was my pick up date, and was forward from my original date that was suppose to be in October.

Well done, I knew it must have been a joke when it wasn't Heathrow!

What a heart-warming story. I cannot praise the Edinburgh team highly enough. I too picked up my LR AWD from Edinburgh on December 7th. Dan and Joe were magnificent. So accommodating, and genuinely happy to make others like me happy. At the tender age of 54 i didn't think a car would get me so giddy with excitement. My Tesla is the best car i have ever owned, by a long way!
