In response to a question about long-term growth of battery production:

"If you keep doubling things pretty soon you reach the mass of the Universe and you have to convert Jupiter into cells". [mic drop]

- Elon Musk, 10/21/2020

OT personal note: wife agreed to get Roadster II if price is over $600 when it is available, except she thinks we should lease it so I can return it in case I get bored with it. LMFAOOO (Out to Orbit)!

Sounds like elon has been deliberately pausing the semi for quite a while due to the cell gap. No wonder he is so keen to ramp up cell production. More and more, teslas entire business is just the story of how rapidly they can churn out battery cells.
How could he not be? They've been cell constrained for awhile and semi is quite cell hungry per vehicle.....

Sounds like it is also defining and building out the megacharger network. Jerome: "350kw is not enough"

it’s been that way for years now

people will be asking, for years to come, what about this product, and this product, and this product??
from tesla and any other potentially decent manufacturer to come, the answer will be, we need batteries, otherwise they’d be to market.

this likely won’t change for 10+ years
