It is Tesla that has turned me from a cynic to a hopeful futurist!

When I was younger, I disliked capitalism mainly for its use of oil in fuel and plastics. I saw them as one and the same thing. The greedy speculator barrelling oil and to hell with the consequences. Tesla has changed my mind. Looking back at the great discoveries of the early 20th Century, I thought climate change would be solved via university research departments, I never thought it would be a serial entrepreneur!

Elon is an entire justification for our capitalist system. And he understand it completely, you simply have to make eco-friendly products compelling, way better than the alternatives. Before him, everyone made excuses that this wasn't possible and the only way to be eco-friendly is to be vegan and ride bicycles.

I know Tesla can't do it on its own, but the lazy excuses are not acceptable anymore.

Based on what I read on facebook, Canada population tripled last time, this time it would become the largest in the world by population.

Canada just released plans to increase immigration to 500,000 per year of qualified immigrants and our normal quota of refugees. Our vetting system though makes it tough to immigrate unless you have a skill set or education.

if you have a multicultural mindset and enjoy hearing dozens of languages spoken everyday you are welcome. Best to have a bit of a socialist side though. It’s kind of our thing. Has worked well for our family.

I thought it was some reaction to Biden taking the lead, but then I noticed all other stock started rising.

So I think markets just want it over now, $TSLA just getting the usual treatment...

It looks like the Senate will remain Republican-controlled, so even if Biden wins it looks less likely that he would be able to push through a budget containing more EV credits.

PA he's still 500k behind - did they start the postal vote counting yet or are they still on the day ballots?

The rules for Presidental elections are set by the several States, so they vary. In PA for example, mail-in ballots will be counted if they are received up to 3 days after the election. That means that PA can not end their count before Friday. Functionally, they also have a backlog of about 1 M votes to count, so it will take all of those 3 days to catch up on the mail-in votes.

Fun fact: California counts their mail-ins as they arrive over the past 3 weeks. Some States aren't even allowed to START counting them until today.

It's looking more like Biden won... I just don't want it to be a long protracted affair.

It looks like the Senate will remain Republican-controlled, so even if Biden wins it looks less likely that he would be able to push through a budget containing more EV credits.

There is a big factory getting made in TX, and it's two R senators are enough to push it over the edge.

Germany served Tesla a $14 million fine after the country said the electric carmaker failed to comply with battery recycling duties. Tesla disputed the allegations in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the US published at the end of October.

According to the filing, Tesla said it adhered to all battery recycling procedures as regulated in Germany.

I realise that a few people are wailing and tearing at their beards because the DEMs didn't flip the Senate and Biden, if he wins, will find it very difficult to get legislation passed - will sit on McConnell's desk like the other 350 bills they didn't treat.

However, the standing of the USA on the World stage will appreciate greatly, sanity and stability will return to American politics. This is good for everyone, I think. I'll take it as a starter.

Green energy and solar is getting hammered while the broader market is soaring. This is presumably a response to Republicans maintaining control of the Senate.

TSLA is conveniently lumped in with green energy today instead of tech.

There is no way this wraps up in any neat and tidy way today. I expect lawsuits, recounts, and scorched earth tactics we can't even image to drag this out and drag the markets down. I'm afraid we are just getting started.
