The thing is why a Tesla logo/ decal on both?
Why wouldn't they put a sticker on it? (It is very common for companies to put their logo/name on the products they purchase. For example, on the bridge cranes and stamping presses installed in the factories.)

Tesla may have purchased them to help keep track of construction at GigaTexas and/or GigaBerlin. (They are often used to go through and map construction with LIDAR to make sure things are progressing as planned without the need for a human to walk through and inspect/take measurements.)

In electrical motor design the armature and rotor always designed with the minimum air gap that is practical for efficiency reasons. If that air gap can be reduced by a carbon sleeve that limits expansion there should be efficiency gains through the entire rpm/torque range of the motor but the gains would taper off as rotor speeds increased because this is the realm that rotor expansion would have reduced the air gap anyway.

Respect. Watching another car decisively walk away from the Plaid MS is truly impressive. Several conflicting thoughts ensue...
  • Rimac Nevera is a supercar with supercar cost and supercar quantity, while Plaid is truly production with phenomenal pricing for the performance
  • Plaid MS is a 5-seater sedan and destroys all ICE supercars
  • The appropriate comparison for the Nervera is the roadster, only we use the plaid MS because it's here today
  • The tri-motor SpaceX edition Roadster should destroy the 4-motor Nevera
  • HOW FUN US THIS!?

Biggest takeaway:

ICE is slow and lame

Tesla Energy is going to be much more than just storage...

Our friends at Duke are pushing the "autopilot is dangerous" angle again. Citations include false data, and odd assumptions about driver behavior. I'm sure this will earn me a block but I think the whole thing is an intellectual house of cards. The actual test results might be useful, but the conclusions are hopelessly off.

And my response was:

Look at what Karpathy tweeted here:
He tweeted a pic of a futuristic society with a robotic dog when someone asked him what’s next…

The UCLA researcher tied to AI day has a history of trying to solve issues for blind people.

I think Tesla may be working on a seeing-eye dog. I speculate that perhaps it’s the Shiba Inu Elon was tweeting about months ago.

I’ve been speculating about this for a while now. This Boston dynamics dog certainly makes me wonder…
Yes! Using FSD vision tech. Wouldn’t THAT make the FSD critics feel like 💩

Just a couple of days before I watched Doug Demuro's Plaid review, I watched another youtube channel with his new Plaid getting reaction videos from his friends. One of them was Discovery Channel's Street Outlaws murder nova guy. He said the same thing, about it being scary anyone can just get something this fast.
This same guy has a great video, where a group of exotic car drivers meets up and he gets a bunch of them to ride in the plaid.

It starts at 35:25 and if you want to see what kind of cars they drive they roll in at 30:45.

Just seeing how drivers of Ferrari and Lamborghinis are blown away by the performance gives me great hope for the future.

Was getting that advanced degree in AI and Robotics while maintaining a 4.0 GPA stressful and demeaning?
Did your "cool factor" suffer?
Did you spend long weekends programming or building the latest and greatest robots while your classmates were out partying and having fun in the sun?
Tesla has a job opening for you in the exciting and rapidly growing fields of AI and robotics.

New recruits will have a chance to be real world test subjects for our previously undisclosed program developing the sexiest, most realistic AI lovers ever created by man! Depending upon your talents and interests, you could even join our AI lovers development team!

That's mostly sarcasm but this subject doesn't get enough mention for it's potential. Considering that 80% of Internet traffic (or some such number) turns out to be porn, who would think that AI sex robots will not be a multi-billion dollar business in the near future? COVID has probably accelerated and grown the market demand too.
me and a fellow ant have been fantasizing about getting a Cherry Queen for 40 years. Ever since
(Please note the writer of this film was more ambitious than even Elon. He has the Cherry 2000's wearing out in 2017.)

Wonder what Tesla insurance will quote him after 'analyzing' his driving habits :)

I haven't owned any of those but I've driven a Lamborghini Huracan, a Porsche GT3, and two Stock cars. If offered my choice of car for free, I'd pick the most expensive, sell it, buy a Model S plaid and TSLA with the remainder.

I did buy a 2013 Model S P85+ after saving up to buy a "fun" car years ago.

Looks like the same robot, possibly at SpaceX - so what's the story here?

The real story.... how WestWorld is Working at SpaceX? Look at the lower right photo. The guy couldn't care less a girl is dancing with a dog robot. Same ol Same ol. (Not in my world!)

Thinking out loud…

Grimes and Karpathy are posting robo dog pics, day before AI day.

Dave Lee has been talking about Tesla needing a “last 100m” delivery solution.

A rumoured AI day surprise. (Tweeted by the first guy to tweet pic of the invite).

A fleet of noiseless robotaxis planned that has a ready market of people to move for most of the day, but which has nothing to do during the small hours.

An online shopping sector going gangbusters and which will ramp again if deliveries become cheaper and more reliable. (There’s no such thing as free delivery, the cost is merely averaged and moved into the markup).

A quadruped makes sense, unlikely to stumble on ramps, gutters, stairs, and able to jump in the back of an EV. Also cute enough to be non threatening. (noted how Grimes played on the cute factor)

I think Dave is right. We just need a little imagination to see how robodog will pull the parcel from the vehicle and secure it on his back.

Looking forward to the presentation tomorrow.

Somehow I don't feel bad watching a car that costs over 19 times as much beat the Model S Plaid. Especially considering it's 100% BEV.

Which would you rather have: 19 Model S Plaids or one Rimac? I wonder if the Rimac comes in a roomy 4-door sedan version? 🤣
