“I really can’t explain it”

How can you be a tech investor and not at least have some understanding of Tesla and the market drivers right now?

“Splits mean nothing”

Splits matter in a market. Especially in this current market. Sure pie slice is less, but it is still pie, and now “costs less” It is a thing and good to factor in and not dismiss as “those idiots who don’t get math so I will ignore”

In the middle
I've been considering whether or not I should lighten up my holdings a little. Mostly because it has gone up so high/fast, and because Tesla is such a large component of my net worth now (75%).

I'm not. Inclusion isn't really on my radar as that will be a short term spike if anything. What scares me about selling is the Autopilot re-write, and to a lesser extent a battery day wild card. I really haven't been driving much at all lately so haven't played with stop light recognition. Yesterday I did, and it works very well. I don't recall any examples where Elon has made a promise about performance that didn't come true and if he says the new code is a quantum leap, that says A LOT.

Battery day is probably going to be a solid, but not explosive reveal of in-house production (great for long term) and improvements in density etc. by 20% or so. However, this is a chance they show off a real step change in battery chemistry. Either one of these events could blow up the SP in a justified way.

Edit. Thanks for the MMD. Grabbed another 20 to sell back when we get back to 2100.

His pre-release description of smart summon as mind blowing would be a good example.

That said- I expect a lot more out of the re-write than what we got with smart summon.

(there's plenty of others where obviously the promised dates came and went and we're still waiting sometimes years later- but those certainly still CAN come true further down the line, and I'd expect most of em to do so)

I expect a Plaid S to be the big news the casual viewer/stock buyer gets out of it... rest, like with the stuff from autonomy day, is gonna be a lot of wonky tech stuff whose main impact is still to come later and will go over the heads of casual observers.
