Here is another example. Blatant efforts to destroy Tesla.
With a lot going on - they think they can get away with it.

Treasury Secy Warns Unemployment Could Hit 20% Due to CoronaVirus

Could be worse than 2008 Financial crisis.Tesla will not be immune to this serious situation. No jobs, no demand.

Right in his wheelhouse. Mnuchin must be loving life. He couldn't succeed in regular banking, made his killing in payday loans.

Just for the record.....we essentially had a balanced budget when this all started.

“The war is always being waged, even when it is hidden by other wars.”

- Some important military official from a long time ago.

(actually just me)

The true war has been fought and won, and some on the winning side don't know .....

The true war is EV vs ICE, every day Tesla wins on that battlefield..

I'm surprised many Bulls have caught the "negativity" virus... yes bad stuff sometimes happens, but it rarely changes history..

I think shutting down the factory is the best idea at this point. We can simply reassess where we are in 1 week and make decisions based on the data but from what I'm hearing and reading about this .... it could get out of hand very quickly.

What Elon said about his employees (I believe it was directed towards Space X) is true ... the chances of them dying from Corona virus is low BUT spreading the virus by staying open is almost a given and the damage it could do to parts of our population are simply not worth making more cars for a week or two. As far as I'm concerned the Stock Market should be shut down as well .... people taking advantage of this situation is disgusting ..... we are in uncharted territory and our actions as human beings right now is more important than capitalism.

My $.02

Cheers to the longs ......

There is a big difference thought that the Tesla factory is located in an area that is under a stay in place lockdown, preventing anything but essential services from operating. Other US automakers are not in areas where this is in place.
....and here comes Italy in the US when the important thing is whether the government has to say it first. A factory with zero cases (so far) in an infected area on lock down might be doing things right as opposed to a factory in a lightly infected area that gets a confirmed case.... but no lets wait for a few more cases.... once those test kits finely roll into that area. There is clearly not a big difference when one has a case and the other does not. IMO.

Why or how would anyone think making cars at this point is an "essential" business?

Argue what you will but trying to argue that point sounds crazy to me.

BTW, I don't think that has anything to do with the drop ... Futures are in the toilet and the FED is out of ammo. Also, the news out there is not good .... we are a way from turning the corner on this thing and I don't doubt we will get a lot more bad news before finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. I wish it wasn't the case as our portfolio is down 7 figures .... but reality is reality.

Norway - 67 deliveries today, buy this dip hard. Coronavirus is basicly nothingburger for healthy individual. I am 90% sure I have it, but can't get tested. Almost recovered in few days.

In my case I wouldn't say 90% sure, but I also wouldn't be surprised if I had it too.

I had to visit the ENT specialist at the hospital last Monday for an ear infection. Wore a mask everywhere, but from Thursday to Tuesday I had some very mild symptoms. Had a bit of a sore throat, coughed a few times a day, felt a bit warm/sweaty for 15-30 minutes a few times a day (but body temp normal), and I felt something in my chest/lungs that wasn't 100% normal. Today (Wednesday) I feel 100% normal again.

Nonetheless, I was able to work just fine (self-employed, so at home) and it was pretty much business as usual. Honestly a stuffed nose/allergies are more annoying than this was.

Read last night that the 3 Detroit auto manufacturers were in negotiations with UAW about health safety for the workers due to virus. They want plants shut down and mfgrs don’t. Understood some proposal was to be presented tonight at 6pm. I think they’ll shut down in the end.

Husband had his MS in for annual maintenance today at Service center in Bay area and said while there were a few cancellations—got him an earlier appt time—there were other cars there too.
