Not to beat this with a stick... but the range on the shorter range F-150 is slightly longer than the shortest range model 3 (the SR) and pretty near the next shortest (SR+) and the longer range F-150 range is within a few miles of the original AWD LR model 3 and Performance Model 3.

And both are longer than the earliest Model Ses, and fairly close to ones sold as recently as a couple of years ago.

Hell the LR F-150 is longer range than nearly every non-Tesla EV currently sold in the US, and even the short range one is about average among them.

The efficiency on the F-150 is horrendously bad compared to Tesla, it's why they need so much LARGER batteries to get range comparable to Teslas offerings... but it's not crazy low range or anything compared to what else is out there.

The F-150 Lightning doesn't have an EPA range yet, it's Ford's estimate. And even if they nail the EPA range on the nose, it won't be able to go that far on the highway because the HWY range will be much worse than the EPA average due to poor aerodynamics. Our Model 3 RWD and Stealth Performance can actually hit their EPA range at 70 mph in moderate temperatures with no wind. And at slower speeds they can greatly exceed their stated ranges.

When do you need the most range? That's right, on the freeway!

Oh Tesla, you have so much to disrupt :)

You are that Bull, looking at a valley full of cows. ;)
Perhaps you were referencing a lesson my Father tried to impart to me back when I was in the fifth grade.
he was home from Vietnam on leave. He dutifully took me crappie fishing. We rose early, bought the minnows at the baitshop before the Sun had risen. Made it to the steep clay path leading down to where the boats were stored when the river was normal height.
I only feel as though I was hurrying him because he told me, "Boy, A bull and his young son came to a crest on a hill. Below them was a green pasture with many cows, and not another bull anywhere.
The young bull started trotting down to them, and yelled back to his Father to hurry so he could get one as well.
To which his Father replied, "I will walk down and get them all."

I was so amped up on going crappie fishing on the river with my Father the story didn't get a moment's thought. I think I was in high school before I figured it out.

Guys/Gals,
Tesla will win and transform transportation to sustainable energy, but it won't be won overnight. A very good friend of mine and gear head (owns 20 cylinders) just sent me this Youtube link:
2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 4 Exhaust Modes

him: "Unfortunately no EV sounds so sweet like a ice mustang."

me: "Let me fix that for you: UnFortunately no EV sounds, so sweet, unlike a ice mustang."

Crazy to us, I know, however my friend is not alone. Note this video was viewed 5.8m times. Agas! now 5.8m + 1.
I strongly recommend your friend join me during my hospital rounds, I can assure you he will instantly change his mind once he hears the wheezing , ronchi and various other adventitious sounds in patients with COPD , asthma etc lung ailments that are largely in part from the pollution he is so callously spewing .

You did point out to him that it is mostly speakers and electronically created noise?

Stockprice seems to be on AP again. Nice that someone turned it back on.

TSLA climbed to within $0.80 of it's MA(200) w. high proportion of retail trading (FINRA), w. low proportion of retail shorting. Lower-BB now looks well out of play (as does the YTD low) with large "PUT walls" guarding those lower strike prices tomorrow.

I say the "Battle for the 200-day Moving Average" continues.

Cheers!

Today Luminar LAZR jump 14% due to this Tesla Model Y Is Spotted Testing LiDAR With Manufacturer Plates . (grasping at straw) o_O
Those are not new, lidars has been spotted on mfg plated cars many times before. Tesla is likely using those to collect small ground truth dataset to calibrate camera depth perception.

Keyword here is calibrating not training, to train the network you need massive dataset, to calibrate results to a more accurate scale, you only need a small dataset.

Correct. Tesla tests using LiDAR to validate its liDAR-free approach.

I agree for the most part - as @StealthP3D says, a low SP do benefit the workforce - but I don't buy the fact that Elon "discovered" of the energy usage of Bitcoin after he bought it.
This article cited by @JRP3 tries to put the puzzle together:
The gist of it is that Musk has a long story with crypto - both Bitcoin and Doge.
He has criticized Bitcoin for years, even about energy consumption (can't find the tweets because Twitter search is awful). Then he changed his mind. Then he changed it again in a week or so.
His whole reasoning is too inconsistent to take it at face value. There must be some information/background we don't know about.
Since Crypto is about trading work, aim that work at capturing carbon and turning it into diamonds. A little more productive, but still a currency.

I think the thrusters will only be legal at the dragstrip and I won’t elaborate further on this in this thread but I’ve pulled >5 vertical gs (blood rushing from head to feet) for about 30 straight seconds without much problem (granted I had training for that). Human tolerance for lateral gs is much higher though. Humans can tolerate >20(!) lateral gs (accelerating forward) for a second. So 2-something gs isn’t really a big deal.

Anyone who implies their vision is going or they are blacking out at a few horizontal gs are either exaggerating or already near death :).
That is NOT true.
After leaving a restaurant and going onto the highway with my Model S, accelerating was near death for me.
My wife, sitting next to me, decided to take out her lipstick and put some on.
I just couldn't help myself for this wonderful opportunity and floored it.
Well, it is the only time in my life I was almost killed by my wife and I had pain in my belly from laughing.
I am quite certain a make-up specialist would not have been content with her result.
Our marriage is still fine and yes, lipstick can be removed from the ceiling from the car.

I’m feeling like it won’t be long before it’s no longer en vogue to have loud cars. When silent cars become an order of magnitude faster than a cost equivalent ICE car, I think the narrative will shift.

When I was in high school I worked in an exhaust shop; the bulk of people who came in for exhaust systems said they wanted it for the fuel savings and increased power, and were often disappointed with the results; sometimes even returning to complain about how noisy it was.
Tesla has replaced that look at me noise, with incredible audio performance and I think it is a shift in mindset. Just an opinion tho. I’m sure some would argue this.
I rented a house in Carmel CA a couple of years back, expensive, quiet (in theory) area.

I could not believe the constant engine sound from bikes, cars and small trucks with aftermarket exhausts utterly destroying what should have been the tranquility of the leafy area.

I think in the US you’ve let this sort of intrusion into others’ private space run out of control TBH and the sooner it dies the better.

Not saying it never happens in the UK, but it’s on a smaller scale and generally less aimed at just being as obnoxious as possible.

The occasional sweet V12? Fine.
Racing engines on racetracks? Finer.
Every Harley on open pipes sounding like a building collapse? No. Stop now.

Its indicative of ICE being in its death throes that manufacturers have to have ‘exhaust modes’, piped interior engine sounds etc.

As I say to my petrolhead friends when they tell me how great ICE sounds ‘is that all you’ve got?’ And it is.

Ok. Model S delivery event in two weeks. Hopefully we start a steady climb now. Worse case, we wait one more week....

I also wonder if they’re going to time V9 FSD, V11 OS update, and S deliveries all for June 3rd. Remember the new S/X use an updated software version for some of the stalk less driving features and we had that video of the software that was noticeably different with the buttons on the screen to turn on the auto direction feature
There is a poll for that.
