Elon just cited chip shortage on call as THE limiting factor in building more vehicles rest of the year.

First time I can recall him citing anything other than batteries as the gating factor.

Chip fabs are INSANELY expensive and resource intensive. And even at 20 million cars Tesla doesn't need enough chips for that to make business sense.

That's a 100% growth company dominating transportation and energy priced at 120x earnings 9 months from now.

Would guess they're already working on it. Elon hates depending on others and every time there's a hold up, he brings it in house.
