As to the above playing the market post by me....
I am verifiably up to the next level of "rich" due to Tesla. And it isn't even a million dollars for an ant. I have made enough $ with Tesla that when I sell it all "if" the stock runs away from me ever buying back in I will live out the rest of my days without a want.
And you only know that you've made your goal when looking at the cash number in your portfolio after you sell all of your Tesla stock if you are a lowly poor guy like me. Until then it is an imaginary amount, play money.
It is a startling but soft feeling to see that number in the CASH column of your portfolio..It becomes real.

But now once again I am +99% TSLA, and "riding the wave" on a boogie board....before I was body-surfing.

Transcript of email according to CNBC (link above)

Subject: Headcount Reduction Date: Friday, June 3, 2022

Tesla will be reducing salaried headcount by 10% as we have become overstaffed in many areas. Note this does not apply to anyone actually building cars, battery packs or installing solar. Hourly headcount will increase.

Elon

Typical CNBS headline, they can't put in the headline "salaried". They have to let the implication run that Tesla is cutting 10% of the workforce overall.
It's actually far worse than that. Lolora Kolodny mixes the two emails together to create the narrative that Tesla is cutting 10% of employees and "will instead rely on more hourly workers".

She's trying to paint a picture of Tesla having to lay off people and bring in part timers to do their jobs. One of the worst I've seen from her.

Teslas in tunnels beats subways on every single important criterion for evaluating transit architectures. It’s not even close. Loop is the Personal Rapid Transit system of our utopian urban planning dreams and it’s also one of the biggest upcoming TSLA tailwinds in the next 10 years.

Some of the advantages vs trains:

[SNIP of many excellent points regarding the Boring transit network]

  • Vehicle fleet can be dynamically routed to serve whichever routes currently have highest demand

The implications of this are massively underappreciated by Tesla bulls in my opinion.
In conjunction with this point, I had some thoughts along these lines as well. To avoid clogging up this thread further, I'll just post the link to them HERE.

Imagine for a moment you went to the Olympics and won the gold medal. You get back to the US and POTUS doesn't even mention your accomplishment, but instead crows about how the guy who won the Silver is "A Number 1" and makes America Proud. Silver Bob is the best runner of the generation!
Then I'd repeatedly talk about how POTUS lied about who is number one and this is why.

Not talk about being "anti-woke" or how "left has gone too far" or how "I'll not vote for you".

Elon has as big a megaphone as POTUS, he can bring to attention anything he wants and that question will be asked in the press briefings. He doesn't have to show he is feeling hurt and throw a tantrum.

ps : Another big thing Elon should talk about how the auto unions are anti-EV.

Wow, I'm just shocked that the media manipulated Elon's message for maximum negativity, lol.

Buy the dip.

Golden chance for Elon to cull work from homers. Cull woke Fremont people, hire less woke Chinese people. Cull anyone not helping with revenue and EPS.

Elon probably lays off 90% of Twitter if he applies the same standard to them as he is to Tesla right now.

If it is just responding to POTUS what you said makes sense. But how do you react to the whole Dem party taking jabs at him and undermining him day in and day out?. Some of these scums are not even worth addressing & responding directly for each of those directed jabs.

And don't forget - Bernie, Riech, AoC and the whole democrat socialist ilk has been attacking him for over a year now with their jabs that, 'Elon is a fraud, is a tax dodger, we should tax him to death, f**k Elon, made money on the back of pandemic, etc... Elon did not start it.
And POTUS was super excited to sign a bill which provided a massive advantage to Tesla's competitors.

Honestly that was what got me super cynical about the current administration. People want to brush this under the carpet, but Biden encouraged congress to push hard on legislation that was heavily slanted to favor Tesla's competitors.

Seems to me like a lot of crocodile tears for the Democrats for "baseless attacks" after they tried to gift Tesla's competitors with literally billions of dollars Tesla couldn't access.

Don't respond. They are attacking "billionaires" as a group and want higher taxes on the rich. You know, like that "scum" FDR.

If you start responding to every political critique - you won't have time for anything else in life.

So I'm seeing this 10% as:

120k employees
maybe 24k salaried
10k of those being people who "make cars"
14k * .10 = 1,400 firings

This basically being the justification for firing the people who didn't like the back-to-work memo.
That's about my guess of where this lands.
About an order of magnitude lower than CNBC is implying, so par for the coarse.

I never suggested there wasn't a legitimate gripe, just that being ignored is not the same as a direct personal attack. Elon's childish response is just another all too increasingly frequent example of poor choices in communication.
If only there was some department at Tesla that specialized in dealing with the media and issuing carefully vetted statements.....

Yep. That's the way it worked out. I got a great deal out of it but the recall hurt GM pretty bad. LG Energy built the battery packs, so they are bearing a lot of the actual cost of the recall. But it appears that the whole fiasco has killed demand for the Bolt.

If the recall never happened then GM would be in a pretty good position offering a low cost EV with good range. They might have figured out how to ramp production and produce them at a profit. But now instead of being in a position to raise prices like everyone else, they have to cut prices instead.
Have to wonder what the fires, bad press, and recalls did to your resale value…

Just paid my estimated taxes and looking at the SP I will pick up shares with any change left over. This weekend we are going to check out the places where they put some new Superchargers which are all 250 kW; amazing expansion. Wherever they put the supercharges it seems the area around it seems to prosper and expand businesses. Tesla is taking over big time. Perhaps we will defeat Global Warming no matter how hard vested interests attempt to slow Tesla to enhance their bank accounts. Even Russia is being exposed for what they are; bravo to the Ukrainians. Have a great weekend.

They have an extremely cute looking EV but last time I looked it was overpriced and under-ranged. Also I've only ever seen one in real life here in the UK

I also mentioned the E in a previous reply. The reason you'll never see the E in the US is due to the E's mirror cameras. Honda won't change to wing mirrors so it will never be imported to the US. The protoype X used to have mirror cams too but then switched to wing mirrors cuz the US sucks.

Try not to focus on marketing the stock to investors, that is not the real product here and it will take care of itself as Tesla becomes the largest, most profitable company in the world.
This is the investment forum and the idea is to make money on the stock. The company is doing quite well as far as I can tell.
