I thought it was interesting that Doug was famous for leading the campaign against the haters, meanwhile he was one of most prolific sellers, every single month like clockwork. A classic example of talking out both sides of ones mouth and now he’s gone.

It's also something you do if you 1) have options vesting & you flip some shares to pay for all the options, and 2) you believe the price will go up in the future.

It's not always as simple as 'talking out both sides of one's mouth' - very frequently for executives, it's about positioning for huge stock gains. That's how I interpreted Doug's actions.
