So True. And get this: they didn't even look at the car. I had it towed there, and its been sitting in the same spot (the GPS arrow has not moved a pixel), and they said its a $4,000 repair. Without even looking at it.Tesla is not your friend.
They somehow came up with this without even looking at the car. What is the parts/labor breakdown?
At the bottom it says $921 for labor. They're only charging you 393 for labor. That's pretty cheap considering the cost of the rack.
That's total labor for all the other stuff you had or want them to do. The 393 is for the rack specifically. At the bottom it says $921 for labor.
Update: insisted the techs actually get eyes-on the car. They did, then revised the estimate and said it's a bolt that needed replaced. $260 and good as new.
This is the Tesla way. They are not mechanics - they are "service technicians". They input symptoms into the computer, perform basic diagnostics, and replace major parts assemblies until the problem is addressed with little regard to overall cost or efficiency. That's scary to think that they did a write-up/estimate without even looking at the car. I have to wonder if you authorized the work without pushing them to do another look if they would have even done that or just charged the $4k to change the entire rack.
Bingo. They just throw parts at it until resolved.and replace major parts assemblies until the problem is addressed with little regard to overall cost or efficiency.
I bet that disappoints the Tesla is “bad” folks.Update: insisted the techs actually get eyes-on the car. They did, then revised the estimate and said it's a bolt that needed replaced. $260 and good as new.
There was a recall on the steering bolt. Hope they didnt charge you Model S Steering Assist Motor Bolt RecallUpdate: insisted the techs actually get eyes-on the car. They did, then revised the estimate and said it's a bolt that needed replaced. $260 and good as new.
Why would Tesla trying to charge $4,000 for something that actually costs $200 to fix "disappoint" people who rightfully point out that Tesla's service organization is inept and inconsistent?I bet that disappoints the Tesla is “bad” folks.
My car year did not apply to this recall. There was a recall on the steering bolt. Hope they didnt charge you Model S Steering Assist Motor Bolt Recall
My best Tesla Service story/analogy ends with me fixing it myself.Bingo. They just throw parts at it until resolved.
