TeslaFi Battery Report - What does your LR car charge to @ 100%?

My current 3 is a SR, but it charges to low 2's instead of 220. Since new. Never has charged to 220, ever.

My prior LR AWD always charged to 310, but I havent had it for several months so not sure how it would charge on the latest firmware.

What's the furthest drive you've taken? Based on your battery only giving you 276 miles, it seems you actually do not take good care of your battery. Perhaps what you think is good is actually not good. However, I am not the one to say either way.

I did a road trip this past summer. The longest leg was 195.89 miles.

Since then, the 100% change has degraded an additional ~10 miles.

Interesting. I've driven from:
Detroit, MI to Chattanooga, TN (650 mi, 13hr, 4 charge stops each way)
Detroit, MI to Nashville, TN, (560 mi, 11hr, 3 charge stops each way)
Detroit, MI to North Port, FL (1,300 mi, 26hr, 10 charge stops each way)

Some of these stops I charged to 100%. Most of them only to 80%. I charge to 80% daily. I have a 26 mile round trip commute for work. I use NEMA 14-50 outlet at home.
Took delivery of my car early July 2018.

I can still charge to ~310 miles. I have 21,452 miles on my car.

293 here, about 18.2K miles (picked up early Dec 2018). Haven't done a 100% charge in awhile (recent highest was 96%, and would have needed 75 mins to hit 100%), so I'm due to see if that bumps the estimated range.

75% of charges to 80% charge, 24% to 90% charge, 1% to 95% or higher charge. Like many others saw noticeable changes to the estimated range after the infamous fall update.

Hi “ypbor,” thanks for starting this thread. My 2018 AWD M3 currently displays ~285 miles range @100%. It’s been driven 16,000 miles and I’ve owned it since August 2018. As for charging habits, I routinely charge to 80-95% using a professionally installed Tesla wall connector and generally have it plugged in every night. Like you, I also live in San Diego. With my new job I will be commuting to LAX about three to four times per month and 280 miles range cuts it close. I’m going to try one of the reset techniques (100% to low charge state 3 times) to see if I can nudge the displayed range back above 300 miles. I’ll post the results once I do it.

2019 M3P-, Took delivery in early august.

Lifetime wh/mi: ~280
Charging habits: Charge to 70 in summer, 75-80 in winter. plugged in every night inside a garage, Garage is at 80F in summer, ~50F in winter. Charge to 90% when visiting family and trickle charging on 110V, but it takes awhile.

a few bigger road trips, approx 10-20 supercharges.

Never charged to 100%, only charged to 97% once to try to enable balancing.

It is a 2018 model, but due to work last year, I wasn't able to drive much of it. It currently has 5100 miles. Mostly I charge it to 80%, and just started to charge to 90% nightly per Tesla service center.

I added a feature request to the TeslaFi support forum; would be cool if they could add a chart showing fleet wide battery degradation levels.

Assuming the poll's LR includes LR-AWD, I still get 310 miles, estimated Rated Range after a year, though it varies from 308 to 312 miles. Today was 312 miles.

My LR RWD charges to 325mi. 30k total miles driven, lifetime Wh/mi ~ 210. For daily commuting, in the summer I charge to 60%. In the winter I charge to 80%.

When the car was new, it charged to 308.

That is not lucky! More typical. For AWD that is typical 9% loss of capacity (71kWh out of 78kWh).

Steady state. The “drop” if you will between about 10k miles and current correlates with the weather turning cold. The gauge is showing 305-306 miles at full currently; I expect it to go back up to 308ish once the weather warms up.

12,000 miles and all I do is charge it to 90% daily. Set it and forget it.

Which is all to say, all’s quiet on the western front.

Not a problem, just curious.

With TeslaFi, you can type in the exact percentage you want. Also, on the app, a recent update now shows the percent number charge when adjusting the rate (assuming you have your car to show percentage).

Ask your local SvC to check your VIN vs some service bulletins about the battery pack. There was a range of cars in 2018 that needed some battery pack upgrades that limited the full capacity.

When it initially started dropping I contacted support who said to book it in if it continued to drop.
So I've booked a service next week to check after it dropped another 5 miles, we'll see what they say.

You're only down around 11% or a little more, which is quite normal based on reports here (a bit on the low side but not excessively so). A portion of the loss of capacity could be cold nighttime temperatures; you'd have to really make your battery toasty and charge rapidly to 90% to figure out whether that is a factor.
