Simple question ... Does TeslaFi use the same API as documented by Tim Dorr? If so, I thought people who hammer the Tesla servers risk being blacklisted? I have seen data from TeslaFi that looks like it must have polled the server very frequently....

I'm writing my home-grown version and want to know if I can poll my car (while driving) every 30 seconds without issue like I'm assuming TeslaFi does?

Not sure if it's ok to poll every 30 seconds but TeslaFi default is every 1 minute and it's working for years for me. I have a paid subscription for my car(s).

Yes, we all do. It's the API that powers the mobile app.

I'm just trying to confirm that if TeslaFi can poll x data points per hour without getting your account in trouble, then I should be able to do the same polling rate without issue. Has anyone ever established the maximum "safe" polling rate?

So, what polling frequency did you end up going with? I was going to try 15s while driving but wasn’t sure if that’d be excessive or not :)

I went with every 2 minutes when driving...

There's also the streaming API, though I'm not sure if that works for Model 3. With that, the data is pushed to you at high frequency, no polling necessary.

Everything I've read indicates that the streaming API does not work for the Model 3...

Same. Was just reading about issues on GitHub.

Can you provide a link? I think I've seen one report on this forum of it not working after the new websocket streaming API was discovered, but that's not enough of a sample to determine if it really doesn't work. There were lots of reports about it not working with the old streaming API, though.

So, as wrote in the other thread (Model S REST API), I was able to test out the websocket streaming API on Model 3, today, and it works!
