Now restrictions are easing and we can actually look forward to getting out this summer, I thought you might be interested in some mainly track-based events going on over the summer where there will be several Teslas taking part. You're all very welcome as spectators or participants! If you want any detailed information on any of these, just message me or ask in this thread.

June 19th - Tesla meet up at Blackboots tyres and alignment in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. 9am-2:30pm. Coffee and snacks available on site. There may be time to do one or two alignment checks at the special discount price of £25 on the day.

June 23rd - Brands Hatch track evening 5-8pm - At least 8 Teslas will be on track. *Spectators won't be allowed now due to current Covid restrictions*

July 14th - Brands Hatch track day 9-5pm - At least 6 Teslas will be on track. Passenger rides available on the day (subject to Covid restrictions at the time)

July 25th - Shelsley Walsh Summer Spree hill climb - Two Model 3s are entered in this event which has competitors driving against the clock at the oldest motorsport venue in the world. There will also be a live stream of the event I'll post a link to nearer the time.

August 18th - The UK's first EV-only track day at Llandow circuit, South Wales. All BEVs are welcome, but I'm sure we'll have a big group of Teslas there. Further information and booking here: The UK's first EV-only trackday! - 18th August 2021

I was interested in actually getting my M3P out on the track for this, but the insurance from Moris is coming in at £370ish - twice the cost of entry!

Is this anyone else's experience?

As a warm up for the hill climb I'm doing at Shelsley Walsh in July, I attended a school day there this week.
Here's one of my runs from the day. To put in into context, they ran a Formula E racing car up the hill a few years ago and that managed a time of 30.46 secs. The class record-holding Lotus Elise did it in 33.09 secs.

So around 36 seconds? Not too shabby.

I’m booked! Didn’t know the insurance cost but I can see why they ask that much… the risks are high and costs are super high.
Great, see you there!
Honestly, the risks are not very high as long as everyone drives within their capabilities and the day is managed properly, as this one will be.
Problems can occur when track day organisers book too many cars in on a day and then fail to police good standards of driving. A good organiser is one which watches what's going on and takes action if someone breaks the rules.
Likewise, all drivers should build up speed as the day goes on and pace themselves based on their individual level of experience.
We'll have instructors on hand to help novices and experienced drivers alike.
We want a safe day and if everyone behaves themselves, we will. If they don't, they'll be sent home!

It's something a lot of people would be interested in and puts people off like me.
Given we all have Tesla's and mostly model 3s I was hoping you might be able to get some rates including insurance.
The way track insurance works is you as the owner of the car have to take out your own insurance. There isn't any blanket insurance policy available for a day of this type. A lot of people don't bother with track insurance, but those who do can go to one of the specialist insurers such as Moris and get cover.
I'm sorry it puts you off, but there's nothing I can do about that.

Was just thinking you could arrange to get individual covers for people who wanted them. The commissions on these are usually very high so would also be worth your while.

It's not about commissions. Why don't you ring around a few brokers and find out for yourself? It's a specialised field and as such there are not many underwriters who will insure the risk so it's not a buyer's market.

Ive done a lot of track days and did some circuit racing (in a lotus Elise). IMHO £300+ on insurance is a bit on the high side, but I think it probably reflects the repair costs for something like a Tesla. When I was doing a lot of days, I used to get it included as unlimited track days on my normal insurance via a specialist for a few hundred extra. I think a number of other policies are available allowing something like 4 or 8 days for a little bit more - I am not sure if such polices are available on a Tesla.

I have never heard of insurance being included on the cost of a track day, it's an individuals decision on whether to insure or not.

TEVO: was that the official timer or one you made from the video?
