Tesla's Tesla Trade In is Broken

No, the carmax match does not work for Tesla model trades. I found this out a couple weeks ago. Just so happened they offered the exact same as Carmax. 33k for a one month old blue SR+ with Aeros and 800 miles.

As I understand, Tesla is a car company, not a dealership. They want to sell their product, not take in cars to re-sell. They low-balled me by $6k on a 2015 Lexus in “excellent “ condition. I went to Lexus and got very close to fair market value. That said, you are better off selling to a private party ALWAYS, versus a trade in. Sure, Tesla will offer to take your vehicle but, at a significant loss. They told me they needed a “buyer” to take my trade-in. Not worth the time or trouble, regardless that you are trading back a Tesla.

Again, Tesla matches CarMax - or at least they did for me. All I had to do was send in a picture of my CarMax quote for my VW and done. Do they not do the same for a Tesla?

In my case (Nissan Leaf '13), Tesla had already beat Carmax by $1k

They do not. Teslas are the only cars they “value” in house.
