TeslaWaze updates (was: TeslaWaze is Done!)

So Browsers by default block access to GPS location and will prompt you for consent. In the old MCUv1 and MCUv2, they would show you a dialog. If that dialog does not display they are blocking access to your location from a web page. I do not have access to a MCUv3 so I can't really debug this issue.

You can run the HTML5 test and see if geolocation is enabled in the browser.

or a location test
Hi Eric,
Great to have you back!

The first link passed the html5 test. I think. Total score 519/555
For location and orientation, I got “yes” for all 3 values: geolocation, device orientation and device motion.
I will attach photos.

For the second link, it says “user denied geolocation “

I got similar results with both tests, except the first says No for device orientation and motion, while geolocation says Yes. Eric, Teslawaze was working fine on 2021+ until about 1.5 weeks ago.

Eric, thanks again for helping the TMC community. Here are my results from the HTML5 test.

I have not changed code on the website for at least 6 months. Did you recently have a Tesla update?

Normally you would see a tesla browser message to allow website location access. This is something that is not controlled by the website. Does other websites have this issue like ABRP? I'm having my MCU1 upgraded early next month, but this may be a tesla browser issue.

Right. I think this a Tesla browser thing, not you. There have been quite a few updates over the last 2 months.

I can’t speak for ABRP, as I never used that on my prior vehicles, and I tested neither that site nor yours since I got this new car, and only after the latest update. For yours, I do not get the pop-up asking to allow for location access like I did previously on my prior cars.

Hi

I noticed it from the update 2021.44.5.

It does affect any web sites using location.

Yes, the problem began just after the 2021.44.5 update.

When TeslaWaze is trying to load we now get a browser message that Location information is unavailable instead of the normal request to allow website location access. Hope this helps.

@ericwol - I hope you have some success with Tesla. Teslawaze (when it works in the car) is an invaluable resource, and like many I am very grateful to you for your work.
Especially as Teslawaze shows traffic incidents so you can tell if the road ahead may be closed. The map is also well judged for colours and information content and is easy to read at a glance - much better than Tesla's map.

The Tesla maps do not show incidents and are worse now since v9 as they dont have the "google" green lines so you can tell if the road is clear or no green line - no traffic ie probably blocked. Another Tesla "improvement" by removing a feature.

Just makes Teslawaze even more useful - if only Tesla's browser worked ...

Mine stopped working today, the same day I was updated to V11. I have assumed it was due to Tesla disabling the use of games while driving and figured the browser was lumped into that ban. I hope I'm wrong because I used this for the majority of the miles in my car.
