Ordered Midnight Silver, LR AWD 6/22, no FSD, added tow hitch 6/30, told 4-8 weeks at that time. All quiet past 6 weeks aside from one "Hope to see a car soon!" text. Text yesterday 3-6 weeks for delivery. Local store staff very nice but seemed clueless. Overall disappointed with communication, which unfortunately is the trend it seems.

Received a VIN yesterday. Average time from VIN to delivery is 10 days, although I suspect CA to AZ may be a little shorter.

Online account asks for payment info. I am not inclined to give them bank account info until I see the car, though. Anyone know if they actually debit payment before you get the car? Or do you have to accept it first?

I’m really disappointed in Tesla. Today is the 8 week mark since placing my order on 6/12/20 and with the exception of one call to apologize for the delay and say they are working on it, I’ve had radio silence to any of my inquiries. My loan approval is expiring. So now if/when they finally do get a car I’m going to have to take another hard inquiry hit on my credit.

Order is a blue performance non-upgrade with 20” inductions and FSD.

On the bright side, I still get to enjoy my 2016 S 90D a bit longer.
You and I are both going from 2016 S to 2020 Y. What made you change? For me, range (my S is a 75), glass roof, and upgraded sound. Most of the prior Tesla owners I see are 3 to Y and not S to Y, but I don't feel like I'll be losing a ton with the change as my S is pretty much base model.

Well, I originally bought the S for a few reasons.

The biggest is that I made the mistake of test driving a bunch of other electric cars, and then test driving the Model S. How can you go back after that? :)

The other aspect was that the Model S seemed like a great family car for our little family. I tend to do all the long distance driving and we tend to take those kinds of trips several times a year, so having a car that could make the trip with super chargers along the way was a big deal. The car is also spacious making those trips easy and more comfortable.

At that point in 2016 the Model 3 was announced, but the preorders were already huge and deliveries seemed years down the road.

Fast forward to today, and I test drove the Model Y. Yeah the ride quality was a little stiffer and it took some getting used to with not having the binnacle display. But otherwise, that car basically covers all the needs that the Model S was filling for less overall cost and a smaller, faster to charge battery to boot.

I’m really not giving up much. Still have a power lift gate. Lots of storage space. The car is more efficient than the S. With the performance model it’s slightly faster than my non-performance S. No more auto-resenting door handles, sure. But I’ve already had one of those break on me and had to enter the car from the passenger side for weeks until I could get service.

I wanted another new Tesla in warranty, so this seemed like a great way to do that. You know, if they ever actually make the car. :)

I am switching from 2015 S 85D to Y. Mostly because the size is similar even though the car is smaller. It also offers all the new bells and whistles without paying close to 100k

Today I spoke to inside delivery specialist from Las Vegas to enquire about the status of my delivery and she mentioned that right now they are building cars for Europe and there is not much possibility of me getting VIN assigned before end of August.

Hi first post! Ordered 7/16 - Model Y LR AWD White/White. Switched from Induction to Gemini a week later. Got a text this past Tuesday that I'm 2-4 weeks out on delivery. I was excited until I realized I was 2-4 weeks from starting the process to get it up to Minnesota.

Tesla rep told me that my order was "now in the queue to be manufactured...well I'd hope so!

I chatted with my delivery specialist and she denied this rumor. But I have come to not have faith in anything Tesla related except the actual car.
Electrek also said Tesla currently making batch for Europe and usually that takes few weeks. So end of August midSeptember is quite likely. Especially for Texas :/

Bought a model 3 last month and ordered a Y this weekend and sold my ice truck Tuesday. Spoke with my old rep from the 3 and he told me they have performance Ys in stock in the San Fran area - if I wanted upgrade. Need more ground clearance for my second car so I have to wait.

Ordered 7/18 also and I’m in MN. Are you taking delivery at Eden Prairie? Hopefully our orders will be on the same timeline. I’m awaiting VIN as well. Got a text Thur 8/6 that I’m 3-6 weeks out, so seems we are on the same timeline.
