    Test drive vehicles for sale?

I noticed on the website today that certain test drive vehicles could be available for immediate delivery. While I've sent a message to Tesla regarding this, I wonder if anyone here has looked into it recently as well.

I would have to imagine that they would be a bit abused... but, they could be a good/great value if they re-detailed prior to delivery/acceptance.

Sorry about that -- Go to the Design Studio and select either car.

Under the Battery selection is the following: "Some test drive cars are available for immediate delivery. Contact us for more information."

The roadster demo cars were regular price -$1 per mile. I would guess this will be the case here also.

those are "orphan" car. Meaning that customers place an order, configure their car, but didn't take delivery of it.

So if you are not looking for a special configuration it could be a quick way to get one.

Now I just need to find a Model S demo car with the 85kWh battery and 75k miles or more on the odometer, and I'm all set.

And to maintain the "no stock on hand" anti-dealership model.

I haven't heard back from Tesla yet (I may send another email on Friday directly to Reservations), but while I am sure you are correct ... the line specifically mentions test drive cars. I think that these cars will have some sort of discount while the orphan cars would be closer to full price.

That's up from the .50 per mile mentioned previously. I suppose if everything in it is refreshed and it's just the battery/motor that has "wear", that's a decent enough discount.

Not really. Most of these have every option, therefore unless one wants a fully loaded car, it will most likely be cheaper to just order a new car just the way you want it.

What's the average amount of miles these cars are having? 5,000-10,000?

Most are brand new with like 25 miles on them. They are just available now.

Elon announced yesterday that loaner cars would be available to buy at a discount of 1%/month old and $1/mile. I assume that test drive cars would now be available for the same deal.

But not the current crop of test drive cars, which were the first ones off the line and really aren't up the normal production standards and also went through the GetAmped circuit.
