The reply from Tesla via email, at least they're consistent in being uninformative.

Thanks for reaching out to the Inside Sales team at Tesla! Unfortunately, my team is unable to assist you directly. I would suggest waiting for your owner advisor to reach out to you and when they do, they will be able to provide you with any updates with the order.

Regarding financing, I went through Alliant again, but at 2.74% for 60 months, but sounds like I need to ship around. My S loan with them is at 1.49%.

I just got 1.95% from RBFCU (the credit union in the Costco parking lot) after a very fast and painless online application process.

My delivery guy isn't Kevin, it's Chris.

Great! i will give them a try. let me know when you get to the point of your scheduled delivery. did you already give chris your financing info and progress to that point?

2 Model 3s in McKinney, who woulda thunk it! :)

We found a 1.9% rate with UFCU (University Federal Credit Union) here in Austin. The link below lists credit union rates (in Austin and surrounding areas)

Auto Loan Rates in Austin, TX at Credit Unions

Here are some of the lowest current rates from that link:

I gave Chris RBFCU's info. The next step is to wait for the MVPA from Tesla and send the completed version to the credit union. The CU said they'll issue a check within 30 minutes after receiving the MVPA and that they can snail mail the check or Fed-X it to Tesla. (I didn't think to ask about an ACH transfer instead, but I will.) They said they'd fax a copy of the front and back of the check to Tesla if I want them to do that. (Overall, I'm thrilled with RBFCU, by the way.) I, too, started with Alliant but they couldn't touch 1.95%.

With luck this can all happen by end of day tomorrow. Chris said my car is either finished now or will be by tomorrow and will go on a truck as soon as it's paid for.

I figure I'll get a confirmed delivery date after all that settles out and it's on a truck.

I think your list is outdated...I did my S with ATFCU in Jan this year at 1.99% (got my rate locked in Dec before the FED hiked the rate). The current rate is 2.09%.

I just posted what was on the site -- I think actual rates will depend on loan amount, term, credit rating, etc, so their 1.59% may be a teaser rate. When I looked further, I couldn't find any rates on the bank's site that appeared to be that low, however, UFCU did advertise the same rate so we went with them.

Just read through everything in this thread and saw that Texas owners are finally getting VINs. It also seems that my assumption that Tesla would be delivering to Texas in higher numbers is correct so far, so we might get through owner deliveries fairly quickly.

In an effort to estimate when non-owners (such as myself) will start getting their cars, what is the latest reservation date/time to have a VIN assignment or delivery date/estimate here? I saw a delivery estimate for the last week of February/first week of March, but I don't have any context.

I think as of this latest batch from yesterday, all current owners should have their invites, so us non-owners should be in the next batch in 1-3 weeks. It just remains a question of how quickly Tesla will get through current owners, which I need more data for.

Also, any word on where Dallas Model 3s get delivered? I assume the service center by Love Field?

Were you already a member with them? I applied as a non-member, got an email a couple hours laters being pre-approved but not formally approved until I applied to be a member.

I failed the initial questions to be a member but they qualified me through another avenue and now my application is pending to be a member of the credit union which is a requirement for the loan.

Hasn't been the easiest process and hope i get approved for membership (dont see why i wouldnt, I live in Texas?) but they had a great rate.

More delays!

No, I wasn't already a member. After I was approved for the loan I returned to the site to parse through the membership criteria pages until I got to the last one, which was to join, for free, some consumer advocacy group, which took a mere moment. Then, I funded the savings account with $1 using a credit card and that was it.

Were you instantly approved or did it say reviewing?

I think its because I failed one of those 7 questions from like 15 years ago that they ask you. :(

Hopefully they move through quickly though after that.

Mine said reviewing, too, because I missed one of the stupid questions (it was actually something of my wife's I think), so I got impatient and just swung by there at lunch the following day and made sure everything was okay.

Just some further info on loans & funding:

I'm getting my loan through USAA, and it hasn't been the easiest process. Normally, when a bank goes to fund a loan, they give you a Dealer Funding Request form that you give to the dealer. It instructs the dealer to fill out the balance due on the car i.e. the amount of the loan, send in the signed purchase agreement, and send in a copy of the title application listing the bank as the lein holder.

It's that last requirement that makes this a pain in Texas. Tesla can't do a title application until the car is here in Texas, but California won't ship the car to Texas until the loan funding is secured. The bank won't fund the loan until it gets the title application. Process deadlock.

I had to ask USAA to do a "Traditional Close" loan, which means they send a bank check that's pay to the order of Tesla. Once Tesla gets that check, then the car ships from California to Texas.

My Delivery Specialist said that doing it this way in Texas is likely to get you the car faster. If your bank makes you do the Dealer Funding Request, which is typical for ACH transfers, that it will take much longer in Texas.

Note that this is for doing a loan with your own bank. Not applicable if you're financing through Tesla or paying cash.
