Voice control on MCU1 is pretty slow as it is. Would love this feature but suspect they won’t add it if it causes further slowdowns.

I noticed MCU1 also doesn’t support syncing phone volume over Bluetooth like MCU2 does.

Doesn’t Google have some NN that can run on-device on Android hardware for voice dictation? I thought the days where speech to text required server interaction were numbered ...

Agreed. Text to speech doesn’t take much processing power. My IBM PC could do it in 1986.

one would think they just use in-car service that does not talk to internet, even MCU1 can do it, there's a PoC in FreedomEV repo.

Nope, they do it just like Google. If your car can't connect to the network voice control won't work. In fact, when I mentioned this to someone at Tesla they said it was done on Google servers.

According to Elon the FSD preview will be HW3 cars only...

Why?

Elon Tweeted yesterday that the FSD preview/update is for HW3 only, so no MCU1 since HW3 requires MCU2, and no MCU2 without HW3.

I predict more than a few lumps of coal...

What's a PoC?

you are confusing text to speech (to read text aloud) we are discussing and speech to text (for car commands) that they indeedfaar out to google or nuance based on the language used.

PoC is proof of concept.
