Yesterday, I traveled from NH to Paramus, NJ to pickup a brand new 2024 MYLR AWD.
I am super ecstatic and enthused to have this vehicle in my life.
I ordered on June 3rd, just missing the great financing opportunity offered in May (0.99%). I opted for the Deep Metalic Blue and included FSD, because of course I did. I’ve fallen in love with everything about TSLA after spending about 6 months looking at other EV options. I traded my Ford Escape Hybrid in for my new car, named “Eevee”.
The ride to NJ and back is ~4 hrs. Eevee handled with ease.
- The Paramus, NJ location was clean and efficient for delivery. I used the restroom, customer lounge and the overall showroom space. The customer lounge had a Keurig, but it was asking for water and adding water did not suffice. There were many people waiting but not for long. I had found my car in the parking lot (which is small here but workable).
- It took me about 40 minutes in-and-out. This included some trade-in documentation, issues with removing my plates from the rusted Ford Escape screws, conducting an inspection of the vehicle, establishing settings to my liking and supercharging.
- I supercharged to 90% because of the distance to home.
Why pick-up in NJ?
- I was financing through Tesla partner
- To avoid sales tax, (NH has no sales tax but also does NOT currently have a Tesla location as the Service/Sales in Londonderry, NH is not yet open), NJ is the closest state.
- NOTE: If I was not financing through a Tesla partner, I believe I could have had delivery for $750 but would need to “accept delivery” before the car would be placed on a currier to be delivered (I.e., accepting delivery sight-unseen).
The ride home was smooth and enjoyable. The sound system worked quite well. The navigation options were something I played with but I did manage to route to a supercharger on the way home so that the battery would be preconditioned. This turned out to be less than a need to charge and more like a need for food. A Wendy’s Dave Single+Fries hit the spot.
Have I figured out all the autopilot features yet? No. But I have become comfortable with one-pedal driving.
I am currently on software 12.3.6 and believe that it takes a few weeks to get an update after taking delivery of a new vehicle. 12.4 will come……
When I arrived home, I was able to plugin to the Universal Wall Charger and showcase the car to the family. I’m feeling good about the purchase.
