Despite what people who don't like the nose say, I suspect that it looks like that precisely for aerodynamic purposes (namely funneling smooth flowing air under the undercarriage). But aerodynamics is black art, and the days of just looking at it and making it look more like a raindrop, are long over. Elon talked about 0.1mm making a difference. Given the improvement of 0.04 over the Model S, and the presumably smaller frontal area, we should see a noticeable improvement in kWh/mile
