I was very close to buying a NiFe battery for my off-grid setup. From what I've read they're virtually indestructible. The downsides are the high cost and low roundtrip efficiency of ~75% vs ~85% for PbSO4. They also have a very high self-discharge rate of ~1% per day which is ~30x more than PbSO4. I decided on PbSO4 after realizing I could invest the ~$7k I saved in TSLA and just buy a new battery bank every 10 years instead of on NiFe bank that will last forever. Also a new Tesla every 10 years
