The Battle for the distinction....Last Sig to be delivered

I'm in the running! I haven't heard anything from Tesla and that gives me confidence that I might be the final U.S. Sig to be delivered.
(Trying to make lemonade out of lemons here).

The pictures of the Sigs that have been delivered are great...what a beautiful car! The reports coming from those that have received their
cars are fun to read and knowing that everyone is absolutely loving their Model S gives me the patience that is needed at this time.
Thanks to everyone for sharing your stories.

Right now I am the "winner" with a recently revised estimated delivery of 11/30-12-14, confirmed twice now by my delivery specialist. He told me two days ago I should expect a full 4-6 week additional delay to my previously delayed window of 10/19-11/2.

I'm the last known Sig at S1299 (VIN 668) and can see no reason for the latest delay except to appease the lower Sig reservation holders who have dates after my previous estimate. Check out the text of GB's recent email to Sig reservaton holders elsewhere on this forum to see how serious they are getting about delivering in sequence. I get it that some Sig customers don't even have a window yet; why should I get my car before them? Doesn't make me happy, but I don't really have a case to complain.

This ought to send chills through the bodies of all the early P reservations that expect to take delivery in 2012 (and get the federal tax credit) for if my car doesn't arrive until mid-December, how many more Model S cars can Tesla reasonably expect to deliver?

And, by the way, Tesla's current estimate of 2500-3000 cars in 2012 is cars delivered, not cars produced. Tesla cannot recognize the revenue from a sale until the car is actually delivered, not when it is produced, even thought they may have the money. All the revenue and earnings estimates assume this distinction, as it is basic accounting.

(Trying to make lemonade out of lemons here).
Not even sure we have lemons. I think we have some lemon seeds. Dried up lemon seeds left on the cutting board. Ones we vaguely recall might have been victims of the lemons juiced into the multiple Long Island Iced Teas we drank last night.

God my head hurts. Why was I looking at lemon seeds?

I'm wondering how VIN 668 could even be close to the last Signature delivered unless it gets caught with QC issues and/ or transportation issues. Unlike the sequence numbers the VINs seem to be produced in at least approximate order. I can't imagine that at least some of the remaining 332 Signatures have delivery trips that are similar in length.

Not sure which is worse: having no delivery date, or having passed a delivery date and having no car.....:crying:

No delivery date window or date at all is far worse than all the above. No date leads to more time on these boards attempting to disect the information and solve the puzzle. More crazy making! Knowlege sets you free.

Having a date helps you put things on your personal calendar without thinking... "I might get a call so, maybe I shouldn't pencil anything in".
Also, you won't wonder if your pre-approved financing will still be valid when the time comes and wonder how much time in advance you should re-apply.

Not having a date is what I imagine false labor or premature labor feels like for expectant new parents.
If you have a VIN at least you know you are in your 9th month. If you have a VIN and you are past your due date by a few days you might look into having labor induced.

I think they will still try to fill up a transporter before sending it across the country. They will probably drop off a few cars along the way as well. That adds a lot of time to transport. Also they are going to have to deal with winter weather now. I think they are also attempting to ship cars closer to their reservation sequence too.
That is a good sign that they have all the different parts in stock and working now.

STxT and Baltimore,

Cross-posting from the delivery thread:

Anyway, I got my VIN this morning (no special communication, I just figured I'd ask) -- 542. Not too far off from what I'd expect (~200 SSLs + 300 Sigs). Some of the other VINs seem pretty far off from the reservation number, like Sig 1299 has VIN 6xx and Sig 1010 already got delivery (and a VIN in the 200s).

I also got confirmation that the 4-6 week delay for Sigs relates to the original MVPA, and the hope/expectation is to have all Sigs delivered by mid-November. Of course, when dependent on suppliers delivering their goods on time, these dates unfortunately can't be guaranteed subject to them performing as needed.

Keep hope alive!

I started crowning when I saw the Name Tesla on my iPhone when checking e-mail. It was George B's e-mail explaining the difficulties that they are encountering. I am glad that he sent the e-mail....but talk about false labor!

Arnold, I certainly hope you are correct. It never made sense to me that my original MVPA estimate of the first part of October, revised to 10/19-11/2 only days before the GB 4-6 week email, then the phone call I made to my new delivery specialist who told me of a new 4-6 week delay from the end of my then current window. It certainly seemed plausible that I would have my car delayed by some amount, but an additional 4-6 weeks seemed coincidental. My delivery specialist seems new but did confirm twice in two different emails that my window of 11/30-12/14 is correct.

I'm not going to keep bugging him about it but hope to get a call soon that my car has begun its cross country journey. If I do get my car by mid November I'll be ecstatic.

The person I spoke to at Tesla thought your guy must have been extremely conservative. Given your VIN, it's highly unlikely you'll be close to the last Sig delivered. In any event, they all should be delivered by Thanksgiving.

I might be the one with the distinction. I just got word that my delivery window was changed to Nov 16-Nov 30. My first delivery window opened last Monday. My second one opened next Monday. Nov 30 is the latest closing window date on the spreadsheet to date.
