It probably makes sense to see what Tesla provides first with a brake upgrade and see if it can be improved upon and at what cost.

Is it a good idea right now to invest in a set when Tesla is about to announce a brake upgrade?

I agree that you should wait to see what Tesla does before sinking time and money into it. But if it's a simple "big brake" upgrade then I would be interested in aluminum rotors. I'll probably switch to the Carbotech pads soon as I had a "moment" leaving work the other day. No damage done as I anticipated the stop pretty well but I had a split-second "this thing isn't stopping quickly enough" thought.

Awesome! You're back in action. I just got my car detailed for the first time in maybe a year and it looks amazing. I had forgotten how good the car looks when it's clean.
