The sleeper technology is hydrogen fuel-cell technology. Fuel cells are seen as the holy grail of alternative vehicles because, unlike plug-in electric vehicles, they don't rely on energy from coal-burning power stations. Their development has been fraught with difficulties but Toyota is now predicting it will have a fuel-cell vehicle on sale by 2015.

And who is putting that myth about?


Interesting also that the Nissan guy says the Leaf will be fleet only in 2012 and not hit retail until 2015.

He is probably referring to when the Nissan Leaf will arrive in Australia which, like most car releases, is a year or so behind Europe\USA and yes the Drive team has occasionally made some glaring errors in their understanding of energy and the concept of well to wheel. I think they sometimes rely too much on press releases, but they're not alone in this.
