The EU has a 10% tariff on US vehicles. The USA has a 2.5% tariff on European vehicles, except for the chicken tax The USA could simply match the EU's tariff and hurt the Germans.

But I would rather have an open system of positive mutual favoritism with a consistent set of tariffs for _everything_ rather than the faux free trade, rampant protectionism and piecemeal tariffs and subisidies we have now.

President Trump has been talking about this for a very long time. For example, here are some Letterman clips from back in the mid-1980s - when he was actually liked by celebrities. He gets into some of it at around 11:00, but the whole video is a fun watch. Jimmy the Greeks comments toward the end are also fun:

Exactly. It’s funny how any proponent of a political figure (not just this one) immediately resorts to delegitimizing when they see something from the opposition. Whatever happened to trying to understand your opponent’s position?

In context, you’d think it would be easy for Trump to use his self proclaimed negotiating skills to make real progress in fair trade. Global relationships are clearly imperative in the advancing timeline of progress, and this juvenile ‘inflicting pain’ policy on those relationships is terrible for America’s future. Any patriotic person can see that.

There does appear to be an incredibly disturbing level of endorsement of science denial, racism, idiocy, misogyny and kleptocracy...

And derogatory references to the President's complexion (thread title) are the appropriate way to handle it? Imagine if similar comments on the former President's complexion were made here. Just sayin'.

The former president wasn't a climate denying, race baiting, idiotic, misogynistic kleptocrat....

And mocking a skin color that someone CHOSE is worlds different than mocking their race...
